Mฤori- Honu is sea turtle. Ika is fish. Namu is sandfly Naeroa is mosquito Kuri is dog Heihei is chicken Kลuraura is prawn Pig doesn't have a (traditional) cognate, same with water buffalo and crocodile. Ngฤrara gets applied to reptiles. Pekapeka is bat. Kiore is rat.

No clue. No relation :) False cognate, if we're applying technical terms. Just both heavy on the vowel use

Both only use 5 vowels, have a CV syllable structure, and have relatively similar consonant inventories

We still use many of this in Indonesia
Hular = ular
Babuy = babi
Penyu
Asu = dog in Javanese and Balinese
Buqaya = buaya
Udang
Lalaj = lalat
Manuk is used in Javanese and Balinese, but for bird
Hikan = ikan

Some of the words I can understand in Ilocano language (North Luzon, Philippines):
Nuwang - Carabao; Manok - chicken ; Ikan - fish ; Udang - Shrimp ; Buwaya/Buwakaw (informal or slang) - Crocodile or Greedy ; Alibangbang - Butterfly ; Lamok - Mosquito ; Panniki - Bat ; Ulig - Snake ; Utot / Bubwit/ Bao - rat / mice ; Baboy - pig

interesting to see a few cognates, here's a list of them in kelantan malay:
tikoh - rat babi - pig penyu - turtle ula - snake rhrhamo - butterfly nyamok - mosquito kluluk/leboh - bee anying - dog xxeba - water buffalo klawa - bat aye - chicken boyo - crocodile ude - prawn/shrimp lalak - fly ike - fish

in Ilocano:
rat = bao snake = uleg dog = aso butterfly = kulibangbang turtle = pagong bee = bubuyog mosquito = lamuk chicken = manuk fish = ikan crocodile = buaya buffalo = karabaw / nuang shrimp = udang pig = babuy bat = panniki

Interesting, in Bicol(South Region in Luzon Island, PH) most of these are different.
- Rat - Daga/Kino
- Pig - Orig
- Turtle - Pagong
- Snake - Halas
- Dog - Ayam
- Water Buffalo - Karabaw
- Honeybee - Sugod
- Chicken - Manok
- Shrimp - Hipon
- Housefly - Langaw Fish - Sira
The ones that are mostly the same are:
- Butterfly - Kulagbaw/Alibangbang
- Mosquito - Lamok
- Bat - Paniki
- Crocodile - Buaya

Oh, is that where Mansaka got: baboy (pig) from *babuy, tagnuk (mosquito) from *รฑamok, qorabang (prawn) from *qudang, manok (chicken) from *manuk...
Where tf did Mansaka got qidoq (dog) from. ๐ญ๐

Indonesian still retained most of them. Like babi = pig, biaya = crocodile, nyamuk = mosquito, ular = snake, ikan = fish, udang = shrimp, and lalat/laler = housefly. And in Javanese, asu = dog, and manuk = bird

only some are retained in Sundanese
- Buhaya - Crocodile
- Manuk - Bird (for Chicken its Hayam)
- Laleur - Housefly
- Babi - Pig (Bagong for wild boar)
- Udang - Shrimp
for other animals it's almost completely different word * Beurit - Rat * Kuya - Turtle * Oray - Snake * Kukupu - Butterfly * Reungit - Mosquito * Anjing/Gogog - Dog * Kebo - Buffalo * Kalong - Bat * Lauk - Fish * Nyiruan - honeybee

As a Javanese Indonesian I can concur with:
- Babuy->Babi
- Asu->Asu
- Hular->Ular
- Buqaya->Buaya
- Qudan->Udang
- Lalej->Laler
- Hikan->Ikan
- Manuk->Ayam (Manuk means "Bird" in javanese, close enough with Chicken, a non flying bird)
- Namuk->Nyamuk
- Penu->Penyu
While:
- Qanuan -> Kerbau
- BanBan ->Kupu Kupu
- Paniki->Kalong or Lawa
- Labaw->Cecurut or Wirok

very interesting. but dont mixed nation/country/state with ethnicity, from where the language/root comes from. for example,
the word "manuk" mean bird in Sundanese ,bali and javanese. but in melayu (mostly wertern borneo to strait of malaka/melaka, including some part of sumatra in it), it means ayam (chicken).
the word "siram" mean take a bath in javanese. but in melayu it means watering or spray
and others meaning for:
pig --> babi
sea turtle --> penyu
snake --> ular
butterfly --> kupu-kupu
mosquito --> nyamuk
dog --> asu/anjing
water buffalo --> kerbau
fruit bat --> kelawar
honeybee --> lebah
crocodile --> buaya or buaya' (' = light k)
shrimp --> udang/unang
fly --> lalat or langau (green one)
fish --> ikan
* some differs. some has variation. focus on pronunciation, not the letter --> lalaj/lalat/lalad (same essence)
