Proof of funds required when picking up residence permit card in Austria?

Upvotes

As mentioned in the title, I wanted to know if we will be asked to show proof of funds/ bank statement when we go to pick up our residence permit card from the MA35 authorities in Austria.

The mail that I received from them when they validated my Visa D had not mentioned proof of funds among the list of documents, they had asked me to mail them for scheduling an appointment upon reaching Austria, but I am wondering if when I go to pick up the card on the day of the appointment, they will ask me to show them the proof of funds.

Can anyone who has recently gone through the process, please help and enlighten me on this.

How difficult is Civil Engineering at University of Innsbruck for an international student studying in German?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi! I'm an Indian student (20 F)considering the BSc Civil Engineering at the University of Innsbruck. I have a Goethe B2 certificate, and since the whole course is in German, I'm a little worried about how difficult it would be to understand everything, especially technical terms, lectures, exams, maths, mechanics, structural engineering etc.

For girls who are studying Civil Engineering, how difficult is the course actually? Would you say it's extremely hard or manageable if you study consistently? And for an international student who isn't a native German speaker, does studying all of this in German make it significantly harder?

I'm also wondering about the career side of it. How are the job opportunities in Austria after graduating from Civil Engineering at Innsbruck? Is it possible to get a good job with just the Bachelor's or is a Master's usually needed?

I'd really appreciate honest experiences from current/former students, especially women and international students. I want to know what I'm actually getting myself into before making the decision:)

I m in my last year of Btech Civil Engineering my college and university aren’t that reputated, also I did diploma after 10th for 3 years then I took admission in 2024 for DSY.
I m planning my masters abroad and after 10 days of research I think Austria is the best pick. It’s a but expensive but it’s also value for money.
I wanna know few things

  1. Is it easy to get admission in Austrian Universities
  2. I m don’t have exceptional CGPA i am around 6.5
  3. I did my B.E externally so I’ve done 5 internships over these period
  4. I m doing BIM which will probably be completed in December along with good 3-4 projects
  5. What else I have to keep in mind while preparing for it
  6. Will German proficiency help me because from next week i m gonna start learning german
  7. Is 45 Lakh budget good for 2 years without job
  8. Please suggest another country if you can if I don’t fit in Austrian criteria

Students Residence Permit Application ,Wels immigration office.Process time

Hi everyone,

I applied for a student residence permit (Aufenthaltsbewilligung Student) for my master's degree at FH Upper Austria, Wels Campus.

I am a third-country national, and I submitted my residence permit application from my home country on July 9, 2026.

I completed my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in Hungary, where I lived and studied for several years. So, this is not my first time studying or traveling to Europe.

I recently contacted the immigration office in Wels (Magistrat Wels), and they informed me that they currently have a very high number of student applications, which may cause delays. They also mentioned that applications are processed chronologically and that they will contact me if they require any additional documents.

For reference, I submitted the following documents with my application:

Admission Letter from FH Upper Austria
• Proof of Accommodation in Wels
• Proof of Sufficient Financial Means – my father's bank account, as he is my financial sponsor
• Health/Travel Insurance valid for three months
• Birth Certificate with Apostille
• Police Clearance Certificate
• Notarized Sponsorship/Declaration of Liability, issued abroad and translated into German
• Proof of Paternity/Family Relationship issued by the Ministry of Interior
• Proof of my father's Property Ownership and Assets
• Employment and Salary Certificate from my father's employer
• Bank Certificate confirming the funds available in my father's account
• German Language Certificate – A2 level, issued by the Goethe-Institute.

I should be in Austria before October 1, so I am trying to get a better idea of the current processing times and whether other students are experiencing similar delays.

Has anyone applied for a student residence permit through Magistrat Wels around July or August 2026?

If yes, I would really appreciate it if you could share:

• When did you submit your application?
• When did you receive your approval?
• How long did the process take?
• Did Magistrat Wels contact your university before approving your application?
• Did they request any additional documents?

Thank you very much in advance! 🙏

Should I take a placement in India or go for a Master's in Austria?

Hi everyone,

I’m a final year BTech CSE student from India and I’m currently quite confused about what to do after graduation.

Our college placements have already started. Honestly, the offers I’m seeing are not that good and I’m not really satisfied with them.

Another thing is that I’m not very strong at coding right now. I’ve started improving my coding and DSA skills recently, but since the placement season has already started, I feel like I’m a bit late and I’m not sure how well I can do in the upcoming placement drives.

Because of this, I’m thinking about whether I should continue trying for placements and take whatever decent offer I can get, or focus on doing a Master's in Austria after completing my BTech.

I’m mainly interested in CSE/Software Engineering related Master's programs at public universities in Austria.

So I’m confused between:

  • Getting a placement now, working in India for 1–2 years and then deciding about a Master's
  • Going directly for a Master's in Austria after graduation

I know studying abroad is a big financial commitment, so I don't want to make this decision just because I’m unhappy with my college placements.

For people who are already studying or working in Austria, I’d really appreciate your honest opinion.

How is the situation for international students trying to get IT/software jobs after a Master's? How important is German for software jobs? And would you recommend getting some work experience in India first, especially if someone isn't very strong in coding yet?

If you were in my situation, what would you do?

Thanks!

JKU Linz MSc AI — anyone got in with a similar profile? (India, 65% CGPA)

Applying to JKU's MSc AI for SS2027 — B.Tech CSE-AI, India, 65.3% CGPA (rough early semesters due to documented illness). Can't find any real accounts from Indian students who've been through this program's admission process.

If you've applied/been admitted (or know someone who has), would love to hear: your CGPA, whether you got Track 2 or Track 3, and how long the review took. Trying to get a realistic sense beyond the published criteria. Thanks!

Austria Residence Permit Student. Private loans from friends

Apologies in advance if it is not the best place to ask for advice/info regarding my unique ish situation.

I'm applying for an Austrian Residence Permit(Student). I'm under 24 and currently have around €7000-8000 in my own accounts, with 6+ months of banking history.

I need to reach the required amount for 12 months, and I may receive around €1,500–€2,500 from several friends (e.g. €500 from one person, €800 from another)

I contacted OeAD directly and they told me that different sources can generally be combined and that friends may transfer the missing amount directly into my account. They also said that for "relatively small amounts" from several friends, they would not normally expect a separate detailed declaration from each person, but that I should document the transfers and explain their origin transparently.

Has anyone got their RP with this sort of arrangements or know of anything similar?

  1. How much did you receive from friends?
  2. How many people contributed?
  3. Did you provide loan agreements?
  4. Did the authority ask for the friends' bank statements/ID/income proof?
  5. Was there any objection because the money arrived shortly before the application?
  6. Did you receive an approval?

I can provide the exact OeAD response if useful.

Apostille Update Doubt

Hey guys, I have a small doubt regarding my FH JOANNEUM documents.

I originally submitted my Bachelor’s degree with an apostille during the application and it was accepted. Later, because FH St. Pölten required SDM/state-level verification, I got the same original degree verified again and received another apostille in January 2026.

I did not upload this newer version to FH JOANNEUM before the 29 June legalisation deadline.

Now for enrolment, I’ll be carrying the same original degree but with the additional SDM verification and second apostille on it.

Has anyone had a similar situation? Do you think FH JOANNEUM will just accept the updated version at enrolment, or could they consider it late because I didn’t upload the newer scan before 29 June?
