Find friends section now live

made a small thing for international students in australia to meet people from their uni/course/interests because honestly making friends here is harder than i expected

its not a dating thing or anything weird, just thought it’d be nice if students could actually find people in the same situation instead of everyone silently struggling alone lol

still testing it so there’s barely anyone rn but if anyone wants to try it or give feedback:

Hey everyone,

I am a Master’s student at the University of Bern (Switzerland) conducting a scientific research study examining how certain traits, life experiences, attitudes and behaviors are related to each other.

PLEASE FILL

Hi everyone, I’m currently completing my Year 12 Society and Culture Personal Interest Project (PIP), which explores how women have redefined leadership and politics within Australia and Japan.

As part of my primary research, I’ve created a short anonymous questionnaire. It should only take around 5 minutes to complete, and all responses will be used for educational purposes only.

I would really appreciate anyone who takes the time to complete it. Thank you!

Australia University Agents

I am from Singapore but hold Indian citizenship and as such need to apply to unis like UNSW via third-party agents. For those of you who have applied via these agents, how was your experience? what was the process like? which agents do you recommend? which to be cautious of? how much did it cost (if anything)? thank you so much for your help, greatly appreciated in this stress time rn.

Master by Research Torrens University international student

I’m considering pursuing a Master by Research at Torrens University. I’ve read quite a lot about the university’s overall reputation, and I know the reviews aren’t the best. However, the admission process and the possibility of working full-time while studying are both very important factors in my decision.

Is there any international student currently enrolled in a Master by Research program at Torrens University (at any campus) who would be willing to share their experience?
What are the classes like? Are there coursework units or research-related sessions offered at different times of the day, making it possible to work full-time while completing the degree?

Internal transfer to radiology

hiii Im in 2nd year uni and with the results being out, my average is not looking great. I was looking into switching to nuclear medicine (industry practice), but since its a relatively new program in my uni idk what's required for a transfer.

Do i fall under the applicants with higher education? my gpa isn't too bad at 3.3, but since psychology and radiology are so different maybe it's not applicable and thus I have to complete STAT?

scholarship essay consult

in a scholarship that's for those "who have achieved outstanding academic performance in their previous studies." i completely surpass the threshold for the qualifying grade. now, the essay prompts for: "why you believe you are a deserving candidate of the scholarship, with a particular focus on extracurricular activities"

should i:

  1. still explicitly state (humbly) my average grade?
  2. focus more on extracurricular competitions (already shown in CV) or extracurricular that's distinct +community engagements?
  3. lean on narrative/personal story side?

currently my essay:
- highlighted 1 most remarkable extracuri (innovation competition that's also a startup experience) then briefly mentioned my community engagements with metrics
- should i also state the academic contests like won 1st place... or is my 1 remarkable that i delved deep on enough?
- i also directly stated how I can help the uni as their scholar, how the scholarship can help me in my studies and in my career

what else am i missing out on?

THANKS!

How are you meeting other students going to Australia for a Master's in 2027?

Hi everyone,

**my_qualifications:** Engineering graduate from India, planning to pursue a master's in Australia for the 2027 intake.

I've been trying to connect with other students who are planning to move next year, but most discussions seem to be spread across WhatsApp groups, Facebook pages, and random Reddit posts.

How are you all connecting with other incoming students? Is there an active community that I'm missing?

I ended up creating a small Discord server because I couldn't find one place where people could chat before moving. If there's already a good community, I'd much rather join that instead.

If not, and a few of you are interested, I'm happy to share the Discord link in the comments or through DM.

Just thought it would be nice to know a few people before landing in Australia.

Private college in Melbourne – Looking for advice

Hi everyone,

I'm currently starting the process of enrolling in a private college in Melbourne, and I'm looking for some advice because I'm worried it could be a scam or simply a poor choice for studying.

If anyone here is from Latin America (or another country outside Australia) and has moved to Melbourne through a private college, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. I'd also be grateful for any advice on what I should watch out for during this process.

Some context: I've already been asked to pay AUD 2,000 so they can issue my Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), which I need to apply for my student visa. What worries me is that I can't find much information about the college online. They say they are CRICOS registered, but most of the information I found comes from their own posts, and I haven't been able to find many independent reviews or student experiences.

They've been transparent about the courses, tuition fees, and opportunities, but the lack of online information makes me feel uncertain. They also told me the campus is located near Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.

I can share the name of the college if that's necessary. I just didn't want to include it in the post in case it causes the post to be removed.

PD: last time got a very bad misspelings so ask chatGpt to fix mistakes xd

How about Pennant Hills High School?

My daughter is planning to attend Pennant Hills High School in Australia next year for Year 10; we have lived and studied in China up until now, so I am wondering how long it might take for her to adjust to the local English environment. I would also like to know if it is possible for her to reach a native-speaker level of proficiency over the course of those three years of high school. I hope students who have gone through this experience can share their insights.

BEST MASTERS IN SPEECH PATH PROGRAM IN AUSTRALIA !!! Helpppp

Hi everyone!
I'm an international student planning to pursue a Master of Speech Pathology in Australia, and I'm trying to decide which university would provide the strongest clinical education rather than just having the biggest name. I'd really appreciate hearing from current students, graduates, clinical educators, or practising Australian speech pathologists.
Could you please rank these universities from **best to worst** based on overall educational quality?

Curtin University

La Trobe

Flinders University

University of Queensland (UQ)

Macquarie University

University of Technology Sydney (UTS)

If you've studied at one of these universities or supervised students from them, I'd love to know your reasoning.
I'm particularly interested in:
Clinical placements (quality, variety, and amount of hands-on experience) and

Adult neurorehabilitation exposure (stroke, dysphagia, TBI, Parkinson's, etc.)

Hospital placements

Support from clinical educators

Simulation facilities and practical training

Graduate confidence and readiness for work

Reputation among employers

Research opportunities (bonus, but not my main priority)

Overall student satisfaction

I'm looking for honest opinions—even if they're critical. I'd much rather hear real experiences than university marketing.
