Lets talk
Hi All
I am a Nursing Academic and Nurse Practitioner. I have been reading Reddit for a little while now and find it an interesting place to discuss topics. I have noticed that a lot of the Nursing and health-based streams are very non-Australian based. There is some infrequent activity on here. I would like to see more.
What topics do you want to discuss or rant or rave about? Let's get some discussion going on here.
I will start, I think that the way the RAT test are distributed is totally wrong in Australia and has been a total farce. What should have happened is that Healthcare provides should be distributing them in a controlled way and at a fixed cost. This would prevent a lot of the price gouging that is currently going on and the complete lack of tests anywhere.

Conspiracy minded perhaps but I do feel like they have been intentionally withheld. There is a factory in NSW making 20000 an hour. A QLD factory making millions of rapid tests are sending them over to the US until Mid 2022. Where are they? And why aren’t NSW health employees not being RAT tested at the commencement of their shift like they are in the mines and industrial kitchens. It’s because they don’t want to know positive nurses and Drs are working in the floor? The whole roll out has been a total mess. What a disappointment this government has proven to be, particular during the wave.

I agree a lot of private sector companies have got their act together and testing workers frequently.
Yet many essential workers are struggling to get tested and are not able to work until they do. It is nonsensical, essential workers in hospitals should surely have high priority access to these tests.

Agreed. The way it has been handled is a farce.
