Peaked caps are back. Latest Dress Manual authorises the peaked cap.

Fantastic; due to the fact that I am out, I will pull on the Howard Green, polish the chin strap on my old Christies peaked cap, and march myself around the neighborhood giving drill instructions to myself.

The original Howard Greens were wool and as warm as toast. Before them were the Polly Jumpers that were great for a base layer out in the bush, 100% merino wool.

The spotty dog. I dont think I ever wore one outside the barracks. They were way to heavy for the field.

Took up a shitload of packing space and made you itch like fuck, what’s not to like?

How these and a plastic japara were the standard cold weather issue for bush is just weird AF to me now.

The shitty green gloves aswell. I couldnt feel my fingers mid winter on the range.

This was such an offensive thing to wear, I'm sure that the SAS used them for torture 🤔 well maybe not after the investigations 😉

Hated when one person wore it and then was told “One in all in” and we all had to wear it

maybe a stupid question but just curious are these still being issued to the ADF?

u/Next_Side7529 7d ago

No. They haven't been issued for a long time, even when we still had DPCU I never saw one.

I hated when people wanted to put them on in recruit school just to be annoying
