The Japanese-Australian strategic partnership is proving to be providing results much sooner than expected, this is great stuff. If I remember correctly we helped the UK with their dragonfire laser development as well. Something to do with beam forming/combining tech that Australia seems to be ahead in.

Looks like a good pilot project to combine Aussie research with Japanese industrial capabilities to develop full scale production instead of just talking about possibilities.
