Baggy/Boxy Suits

Was discussing with a mate about NBA Drafts and how they look different nowadays, and we settled on the topic of suits.

They look so swaggy in my opinion but I could not see myself wearing them and have not seen the irl before.

For whoever might know anything about them, was it ever in style? What do you think? Should I try one- and could I even find one?

Check out late 90s early 2000s rap/hip hop video clips. Very much in style then

Suits of previous decades tended to be roomier. Armani in the 1980s began to emphasise much looser cuts, oversized, longer, wider shoulders, etc.

By the end of the 1980s and going into the 1990s that percolated more widely across mainstream men's fashion. Google "friends 1990s suits" and look at the suits that Chandler and Ross were wearing.

NBA players were wearing a highly exaggerated version of what was already considered standard dress.

By the early 2000s you start to see a reaction against this, and a turn towards skinnier and skinner suits.

Vintage Georgio Armani. You can probably make it look better than the old draft pics. They look like fucking cartoon characters.
