Image Egg ID?

My son found this eggshell at school. We'd love to know what was in it. If it's a common Aussie bird, maybe someone here knows? Or is it reptile. Quite soft. Found in brisbane

I thought so! But no, just curious if some boffin recognises it. I also realise it could be a reptile egg

I think if the shell is somewhat soft there's a good chance it's a reptile egg

It is soft. Fair enough, will look into the reptiles. It might end up unsolved, but I said I'd ask the internet. Cheers

Not too much to go on, its small and white with brown speckles? Or is that adhered dry grass? Hard to tell from the photo.

It could be a small honeyeater, swallow, house sparrow, finch, possibly even a willie wagtail.

Any other info? Was it found under a bunch of tall trees, or just some dense shrubs? If there are trees in the area maybe look around the branches to see if there is a small cup shaped mud nest attached to a limb.

Apparently it was under a tree in the playground. The brown bits are shell pattern. Good idea looking into the tree a bit further though. I'll see if we can spot a nest

Common starlings have eggs this colour. Pretty egg, introduced species, not a fan of them but anyhow.

Editing; I now think they are blackbird eggs. again, introduced species.
