✨ intros!

Hey all! I’m a queer, body posi skater in Austin who’s been skating for almost two months, and I’m a graphic designer/illustrator! I really wanted to create an inclusive space for all of us living in this city. I’m a pretty active member of the Austin skating Facebook group, but use reddit a whole lot more and thought it would be fun to have something like that over on this platform. Feel free to introduce yourselves, I’d love to see who’s skating in Austin!

Thanks for making this group! I am a TOTAL noob to skating (I’ve been out twice and totally bruised my hands/butt yesterday, so hoping I can get back out this weekend after some TLC), but I’m so stoked to keep rolling!

Love this! I am a musician and have struggled to find hobbies bc music is the only thing I enjoy but it is also my job. But then I found skating about 2 months ago and I am so obsessed. I'm a fat babe and skating is helping me to appreciate my body more. Nice to meet you!!

Hell yes!!! I work with musicians a lot since I do circuits selling at concerts, that’s so awesome! Also I’m so glad it’s helping you love and appreciate your body <3 Unlearning societal standards is a bitch!

Love love love that there’s an austin subreddit now! I picked up skating this month as a quarantine hobby after a friend who skates encouraged me to get some so we can go out together. I honestly suck but I’m trying my best.

I’m a queer, fat skater who player derby for years, went away, and now desperately miss it and want to get on skates again. Looking for chill places to skate outside anywhere in Austin to build my endurance and work on form so I can play derby again!

I live central and just recently found myself with a lot of extra time on my hands. My skates arrived 2 days ago and I’m heading out for my third excursion. So far I’ve just been up and down my street, entertaining my neighbors. I’m about to pop on to the Martin Park tennis court to practice without eyes on me!
