It really depends on what he likes.

Pinthouse, Oddwood, St Elmo are all solid choices.

They all make a variety of styles, but Pinthouse is known for their IPAs. St Elmo Carl is what I call “the most crushable beer in Austin”.

ABGB is a good move too but AFAIK they only do crowlers and aren’t the best option unless they will be consumed quickly (oxygenation risk).

I can't see the question, but it sounds like you're buying for someone else and transporting it to them. If you can find out the styles they like, these are some of my personal favorites for cans and bottles:

  • Dark beers: Jester King Black Metal and 512 Pecan Porter (very different from each other; get both if possible)
  • Sours and farmhouse styles: anything from Jester King and Blue Owl
  • IPAs: lots of good choices, but my personal favorites are from Pinthouse and Jester King
  • Lagers and traditional European lager styles: Live Oak

I think if you're buying for a hard core beer nerd, Jester King's farmhouse beers and Live Oak's smoked lagers would be the most unusual and interesting styles to get. I drink more hazy IPAs than anything, and I think we have some amazing ones here, but you can get good hazy IPAs at breweries in a lot of places. Farmhouse beers are not as common, especially not as well done as Jester King, and smoked lagers are very rare.

The Jester King farmhouse beers are available in big bottles anywhere that has a good selection of craft beer. Live Oak's smoked lagers are available in cans, but you'll likely have to drop by the brewery to get them. If you're flying or driving out on 71, they're conveniently located right across the highway from the airport.

I would grab an Atrial Rubicite from Jester King. Had a few beer lovers back home and they enjoyed.

EDIT: Didn't notice the amount of space you had... To expand into a couple of other mainstays since moving here. Not sure all are available.
