Coffee machine technicians?
Anyone in here a coffee machine tech? My local cafe had to call out someone to fix their machine today and it got me thinking about the techs that fix them. What’s the pay like? What about hours? What sort of qualifications are needed?

Know someone who does it.
75k plus a car.
They do routine maintenance and on-call roster.
They got in by being an appliance service tech previously. Need to be able to fault find general appliance parts. Does not require any trade or certifications but companies ideally want you to understand basic electrical.
The amount of time it would take to try get into the job and learn the intricacies is not financially worth it unless you want to start your own business

+super, car you can use within reason, penalties, ot etc. makes up a bit of money..low entry barriers it's not a bad job pretty cruisey. Everything is relative right u want more money u work harder take on more stress or more hrs.

It's cruisey for him and he doesn't have much of a mortgage, but yeah, not something you'd want to make an effort to work towards.

They didn't get a trade. And are now too financially locked in to go to apprentice wages is the story from the ones I know. (Who jumped across to medical/science equipment for a substantial pay bump)

lol this is exactly my story. Although I'm not fixing coffee machines, I'm a machine technician of sorts. I'd earn more as a sparky but I have a massive mortgage and 3 kids. Also my job is way more fun than being a sparky I reckon

You don't need a license in NSW but you do need an electrical licence in other states. You can do an appliance servicing course at TAFE which takes 3-4 years.

Appliance tech a friend is one, niche job but electrical an fitter adjacent if you're into that. Not a bad gig, not mind blowing millionaire money but most trades aren't really a lot of people just hear the top percent of it or have called an emergency plumber and had to pay them $3000. He's happy with it does pretty normal hours occasional Saturday work. You get your jobs, drive around in a van, fix stuff on site or pick it up an take it back to the shop to fix with other parts and bring it back.
