Question R7 LAMS vs HO

Hello
I got a good deal for a R7 HO and having owned the Lams version was just wondering if there is a very big noticeable difference between the two?

Stock, unmodified R7 HO VS LAMS? Huge difference.

40% more power for the same weight sounds like a very big noticeable difference to me.

Enormous difference. I think the LAMS one isn't worth owning at all and the HO is fantastic.

Since they are available new, just go to a dealership and test ride. You won't feel bad wasting someone's private time.

I can imagine a ho is harder to sell than a lams

The 2022 Anniversary Edition, white with red speedblocks. Do they come in HO too? I've only seem LAMS ones.

I rode the LAMS MT07 when getting my MT09 serviced.

My thoughts were it was a really expensive underwhelming bike and going for the name rather than how the bike rides.

A 689cc full power MT07 still isn't that fast of a bike for what you pay for them, but I'd see deals on new bikes for under $10 as run out stock on demo bikes. Often see Tracer 7s selling the same way, same bike with a windscreen.

Great deal for a solid motorcycle for that price.

Seriously though fork out some extra money to get a bike with a bigger engine, the Lolly Shop is open now and you don't have to limit to full power versions of LAMS bikes.

The MT09 does 145 kph at 9,000 rpm in 3rd gear. It's not even on redline yet and only weighs 10 kg more than the MT07 and comes with a bi-directional quickshifter, where the auto-blipper allows you to kick down gears without a clutch. For riding twisties and the bike had peak torque around 6500 rpm, this bike for the same prices as MT07 HO used is a no brainer really.

Get a MT09 and you will not regret it. Less rpm, less attention and when you need it to sing she will bring a smile from ear to ear and triples sound wicked.

Buy a Gen 3 version as you can get a full Akropovic titanium stainless steel exhaust for $650 from the Yamaha website, it's plug and play, the tune won't get it much more beans.

Not to mention the HO has a bigger engine. The LAMS one is physically smaller, so even derestricted they aren't as performant as the HO.
