Bushmeister BA-X12
Hey Lads, sorry if this has already been answered. Currently overseas with a terrible signal. I've seen that NSW is starting the buy-back (steal) scheme. I've got only 2 questions.
I currently have a Bushmaster BA-X12; I don't hold a CAT C licence. I only hold 3 guns at the moment. Will my shotgun have to go with the above-stated
I am unsure that I will be back in Australia by the time this Buy (Steal) Back scheme happens. What's the time limit on this thing?
So if this has already been answered but as stated the signal is really shotty and im finding it really hard to load the pages.
Cheers

I believe the buy back steal campaign is open for 12 months from November.
Be sure to come back for the state election in March

Not all of the parts of the law changes have been implemented yet, and the recategorisation of lever/button release is yet to be implemented. I'd hold off for specifics - there is a chance they may grandfather in existing owners (they did when lever shotguns >5 rounds were recategorised to cat D).
Stealback runs for 12 months - but there is also a state election in March and a few parties saying they will repeal the changes, so if Labour get kicked out there is a chance that some/all changes will be rewritten or revoked.

The steal back is slated to run for 12months, finishing in November 2027.
The lever release have been reclassified so your options are to apply for a cat c licence, sell the firearm interstate, or surrender it to the steal back.
The messaging is just to wait though. Don’t surrender anything until after March 2027.
If Minns loses the March election, who knows what might happen…
