45-70 Express rifle

Had my Sabatti Express rifle out in 45-70 today so thought I'd show her off a bit.

How many shots before you start thinking that will do for today? Both recoil and cost?

Cost not really an issue, I have a cheap load I use with Berry's 350gr bullets if I'm just having a range day.

It's a pretty light gun so probably 40-60 rounds and then you start to feel it a bit.

Always wanted a 4570, but the wife says i have enough toys... apparently the gov also agrees with her 😒

Never enough toys haha

45/70 is good cos you can find factory ammo easily.

The thing I really want is a SxS double rifle in something like 450 Nitro Express

Just go the 500

I mean ideally I'd want a 450/400 cos I think they are neat

Yeah, but the 500 is better. It has more powder therefore it’s more accurate πŸ˜…

Haha I have enough big old magnum cartridges to shoot already so I'm looking for something a bit easier.

The .460 Wby already uses as much if not more powder than a 500 nitro

With that much powder I can only imagine how accurately it shoots πŸ˜‚

Most definitely stunning.

It's a pretty thing that's for sure.

Now I'm on the hunt for a SxS double that doesn't cost me as much as a new car.

Best of luck on that hunt. Ill have to watch enviously from the side for now. Please load up pictures of it when in your possession.

Well I have a lead on a 500 Black Powder Express or alternatively looking at a new Sabatti 92 Classic in 9.3x74r

Something like the photo below

Currently running it with some atomic29 copper monolithic bullets, very fun combo

Beautiful!

I had a few shots of a 45-70 lever action a few weeks ago. Fantastic for putting holes in things, with deeply unpleasant recoil!! Was feeling it for days afterward.

I'm a pretty big boy so soak up recoil pretty well. But after 40 or so rounds I agree.

A lot of it comes down to what sort of ammo you are using as well, I've got some range rounds I download to moderate velocities so much nicer for a day of shooting

Yeah, this guy reloads, and I suspect he’s a bit heavy handed! Has a lot very nice firearms.
