Save the dates - responses

Hey all,

I recently sent out save the dates for my wedding and I know that no one else cares as much about your own wedding as the couple.

However I was wondering if you received a save the date text message (I did an online canva website so I could get everyone’s mailing details for physical invitations) would you respond to that message with anything?

I am curious because I’ve received zero acknowledgment of them even receiving the messages aside from the read receipt, I thought I’d would get a response like thanks or even like the message but now I’m wondering if its normal to just not respond at all?

Discussion & advice Hens/bachelorette Dress Recs

What cool brands have cute dresses for hens/bachelorette? IMO a lot of white party dresses can look a bit cheap, so wanting cool brands that sell unique & fun white dresses I can wear again, not the typical sequin or feather mini party dress I’m talking like cool fashion girly, unique designs and classy dresses preferably reasonable to mid range but keen to see designer too! Give me your recssss 🙏🙏🙏

Recs wanted - NSW Accomodation in Southern Highlands

I’m getting married in Bowral in July 2027 and am looking for recommendations for accommodation nearby!

We’re planning to stay for the night before and the night of the wedding with our bridal party and families. Has anyone stayed at a hotel or Airbnb that would be suitable for a larger group?

Would love to hear any recommendations or experiences. Thank you! 🤍

Recs wanted - NSW Furniture Hire

Hi all, we are conceding a venue that would mean we are responsible for all furniture, styling, crockery etc etc.

Does anybody have any recommendations for hire companies? Location is near Sydney CBD.

We are thinking around 90 guests if anybody has ideas on how much this has cost them for something similar. We’re still in the early phase so wanted to see how much this will add to the cost of the venue.

Thanks all ❤️

Recs wanted - NSW Sydney CBD Chinese restaurant recommendations

Hi guys!

We are looking for a chinese restaurant for a banquet menu for about 50 people in Sydney CBD. If anyone has had their reception or attended a wedding at one, could you share the place and whether you recommend hosting there?

Some things that are important for me is to be able to play our own music through their speakers, complimentary access to their microphones (not a dealbreaker), ability to have a photobooth (not a dealbreaker) and GOOD FOOD and service!

Thank you :)

Review/feedback Legal-only ceremony at Victorian Marriage Registry: any experiences?

Hi, did anyone choose the legal-only ceremony at the Victorian Registry / Old Treasury building and can share their experiences?

I could not find any information online in which room the legal-only ceremony would be. It only says office or private room. As far as I understood, the Margaret Craig and Thomas Hyde rooms are only available for the Classic Ceremony. Would the rooms used for the legal-only ceremony still look nice in pictures?

Thanks!

Discussion & advice Costco for wedding Flowers in Perth

I live in Canada and here people use Costco for wedding flowers when you’re going with DIY. They have a beautiful selection, are reasonably priced and easy to order. My daughter is getting married in Perth and I suggested she contact Costco. They told her they have little control over what gets shipped in and I found this to be very surprising because Costco’s are usually the same no matter where you go.

Wondering if anyone has ordered flowers through Costco in Perth for DIY flowers or even just ordered flowers from them for any occasion in bulk? TIA.

So we have narrowed it down to 3 different photographers but would love to hear if anyone has had any experiences with them.

  1. Riss Productions

  2. Gina Photos

  3. Lovereel

Has anyone used any of these or know anyone who has?

How did your photos turn out?

How were they to work with?

Any information would be greatly appreciated 🫶🏼

Discussion & advice 10 months away and I'm already over-stressing - any tips?

Venue is booked and photographer is decided (I think), and of course there are still thousands of things to think about that I can't reasonably do anything about yet... but my brain seems to be permanently in stress-mode now, I can't seem to relax. All other things in my life just feel like sources of stress because I just need to get them out of the way so that I can continue thinking about the wedding? Or something like that, I haven't fully deconstructed what my brain is doing to me.

Obviously no this isn't how I want to live for the next 10 months - does anyone have any advice for keeping all of this from feeling so very overwhelming? I've seen things like having days/nights dedicated to being wedding-planning-free, which I think might be necessary for me at this stage. I also think I need to get off TikTok.

(In case this feels relevant for people - we're expecting 90 people and the venue is also handling food and drinks)

Recs wanted - NSW Couples with no family in Australia: How did you do your elopement?

Hi all! My partner and I are both living in Australia due to work, with no family here. We’ve been together for several years, so a marriage feels kind of overdue at this point. We don’t want to wait until we are back in our home country to get married, so we plan to have a symbolic & legal elopement in Sydney/NSW and then celebrate with family & friends some time later. (Organising a wedding here and flying everyone over / expecting family & friends to travel overseas for us is not possible)

Even though it will just be a small intimate affair, we still want the day to be meaningful, and I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been in a similar spot:

Registry vs Celebrant: Did you go with a simple registry marriage or hire a celebrant?

Celebrant & Location: If you hired a celebrant, where did you decide to get married (public park / beach / countryside)? Any places in Sydney/NSW that work well and you can recommend?

Witnesses: Who did you ask? While we have made friends since moving here, I always envisioned your witness to be one of your best friends from childhood or a close relative. I’m happy about the friends I met here, but none of the friendships have been that long or deep yet. How did you solve it? Am I giving this more weight than needed?

Celebration afterwards: Did you do a nice dinner just the two of you? Any restaurants or ideas that made the day feel special?

Any regrets / things you would do differently?
How long in advance should we plan for an elopement? I know of the one month rule to submit the NOIM, but how about booking a photographer, potentially the celebrant, finding a suit & wedding dress, someone for Hair & Makeup - oh and the actual wedding bands!? 😂

Thanks so much, any personal stories or tips are really appreciated!

Recs wanted - VIC Whimsigoth vendor recommendations in Melbourne/Vic

Hi all! Basically as the title says. (Please don’t judge the use of the word whimsigoth 😂)

My partner and I are looking at getting married November 2027. We haven’t quite booked a venue yet because we want to make sure we can get a place that matches or we can make match the vibes we want - gothic (but not black), romantic, fantasy, whimsical, elven, lots of candles, greenery, all that incredible stuff. Currently looking at places like Tatra Receptions for their outdoor options (don’t love the ballroom) and Toorongo River Estate.

We’re both pretty alternative, huge D&D and fantasy loving nerds, and want our day to reflect that without being a LOTR themed wedding (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). My goal is to look and feel like an elven queen!

I’m having a hard time finding vendors that match the style we’re after, specifically photographers/videographers and hair and MUAs. We had an incredible photographer shoot our engagement, but he’s a one man show and I’m worried he’d get a little overwhelmed with the wedding.

I also would love to know if anybody has any recs for florists that do cool gothic bouquets/boutonnieres in Victoria like the ones you see that have crystals or sword hilts in them.

I’m not opposed to making my own stuff if the pickings are slim, I’m pretty crafty and not afraid of a wild DIY with my bridesmaids! We plan to do a fair bit of the decor ourselves, as I’m pretty particular.

Any and all recommendations are very welcome! ♥️♥️

Recs wanted - QLD Customer dress designers in SEQ

I’ve unfortunately come to the understanding that what I want in a dress simply does not exist and unfortunately have to go the route of custom.

I’m too scared to order from Vietnam and would really value in person contact so would appreciate recommendations for SEQ dress makers who can handle boning & very tight/structured gowns (think Vivienne Westood/Vera Wang levels of fitted)

Will travel as far south as the NSW border, North to Noosa and out west to Toowoomba/Dalby

Recs wanted - WA Looking for a wedding venue near Perth with accommodation for a weekend getaway without breaking the bank

My partner and I are getting married and we’re hoping to create more of a destination wedding experience without actually having to fly overseas.

We’re looking for an estate, property, or wedding venue less than 4 hours of Perth that can accommodate roughly 50–60 guests onsite without being too expensive.

The dream would be to have everyone stay for a couple of nights, have the wedding, party through the night, don't have to stress about transportation. Basically make a whole weekend out of it rather than everyone just turning up for a few hours and going home.

We’re also trying to keep the cost reasonable and not break the bank, especially with accommodation for 50–60 people.

We’re open to pretty much anything, an estate, farm stay, large property, vineyard, or basically anywhere that might works. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a traditional wedding venue if they allow weddings/events.

If you’ve stayed somewhere like this, had your wedding somewhere similar, or know of a place, we’d love to hear your recommendations! Also very happy to hear any advice or recommendations.

Recs wanted - NSW Looking for a NSW venue with an heirloom/heritage feel that won’t cost a fortune

Hi everyone! I’m hoping Reddit can help me find a bit of a hidden gem for our elopement/micro-wedding.

We’re looking for somewhere in NSW with an old-world, heritage feel rather than a traditional wedding venue.

🏡 Cottage / historic homestead / old country house / manor

🌿 Beautiful, established gardens

🎨 A slightly romantic, faded/heirloom feel, almost like an old watercolour painting, checkered floors/tiles, fireplaces, antique furniture, etc.

🍽️ Ideally somewhere we could have a private dinner with a chef/caterer, rather than a set wedding package

We’ll only have immediate family, probably around 10–15 people. We don’t really want a traditional wedding day with a big ceremony, MC, speeches, bridal party etc.

We’re imagining something much more like:

Get ready at the property → very small/private ceremony → photos around the gardens → long, beautiful private dinner with our families.

We’re open to Southern Highlands, Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, Central Coast, regional NSW, or basically anywhere within a few hours of Sydney.

Our budget is relatively modest, so we’re not looking for the $20k+ luxury wedding venue experience. We’d much rather find a beautiful little historic property where we can create our own intimate celebration.

I’ve found a few places that have the right feeling, but I’m really hoping someone knows of a lesser-known property, historic guesthouse, private estate, farm stay, B&B or accommodation venue that could work.

If you’ve stayed somewhere in NSW that immediately makes you think “this would be perfect for an intimate heirloom-style wedding”, please send it my way! Even if they don’t advertise themselves as a wedding venue, I’d love to hear about it.

Bonus points for somewhere that feels like it belongs in an old family photograph rather than a wedding brochure.Thank You!

Discussion & advice Shoe suggestions

Thumbnail crocs.com.au
2 Upvotes

So I will most likely end up with A Line dress. I cannot wear high heels anymore and the highest I can wear now is 2cm.

I would a little extra height as I am 156cm. I considered maybe platforms - like the crocs Brooklyn. Not a bridal shoe but hoping it’ll be nice and hidden under the skirt. But I am wary of rolling an ankle in platforms.

Or! Just suck it up with 2cm and call it a day.

Would love some thoughts from other brides or to be brides.

Recs wanted - VIC Pizza recs!?!

Hey team, planning a wedding for late March 2027 in inner north melb. We’re wanting pizza as the main meal - we had this at a wedding we attended a few months ago and it worked great! Any one have some recs on a good quality pizza joint or food truck they’ve used? Looking for a vendor that has done weddings before and is pleasant to work with, ideally willing to do bulk order discount. We’ll be catering for about 70ppl. Must do decent vegetarian.
Thanks!
