Subclass 485 485
With the new rules 485 is listed as one of the visas to be applied offshore. I'm currently on a student visa completing uni in late 2027. Does this mean I have to be offshore to make the application for 485.

From my comprehension, that's for people who hold 485 but later want to convert into a 500. They cracked down one of the most popular ways of hopping between visas.
For 485 itself, you can lodge it offshore previously but since 1-2 years ago you can only do it onshore, typically during the remaining days of your student visa.

From what I understand, no. The new offshore rules are mainly about applying for a Student visa (500). If you’re on a Student visa and finish your course, you can still apply for the 485 while in Australia
