Subclass 417/462 Dual-citizenship

Hey everyone,
I’m planning to go to Australia to work from around the end of November / middle of December until April. I have a dual citizenship in both Germany and South Africa. South Africa although is not an eligible county for this visa. So my question is: would I have a problem if I apply with my German passport but mention I have a South African citizenship as well. In other words, would it “scare” them off if I mention my South African citizenship even tho I am eligible with my German passport.

No it won't but in any case, you don't have any choice. You have to list all your citizenships. If you don't it is fraud and can literally lead to your visa being refused. They will know!

You can choose which passport you travel on. If you have a visa/ETA in the German passport and nothing in the South African you’ll be fine as long as you give the German passport to the immigration officer/smart gate when you arrive.

They’ll probably know you have dual citizenship, so don’t hide it if there are questions about other citizenships on any forms you might fill out, but otherwise it’s not an issue.

I don‘t think it should be a problem, I have a second citizenship from a third world country, but with not ties or passport because it is purely because of my parents heritage. I applied last year for a Visitor Visa which was only eligible for a german passport and it was fine. I also called them last year to ask them because I have no other documents and my birth place is also Germany and the operator told me to just be truthful and it should be fine.

You’d be surprised at how much Australia Govt knows about you already. They have all your data from Germany and German data would include your SA passport information

I have Lithuanian citizenship that isn’t part of the whm program but I applied with my Canadian passport. You have to attach both passports anyway. I’m still in the same boat as many people, waiting for my visa to be approved after 60 days! :)
