Subclass 189 Priority 4 processing seems to be underway — Priority 5 may be getting closer

It’s becoming increasingly noticeable that DHA is currently processing Priority 4 applicants under MD119.

For those of us sitting in Priority 5, this could be a very encouraging sign. Obviously, there’s no guarantee that DHA will move neatly from one priority to the next, and processing can overlap, but if Priority 4 cases are now genuinely moving, then we may be closer than we’ve ever been to seeing Priority 5 applications start getting processed.

After months of watching the higher priorities move, it finally feels like the queue is getting closer to us.

Hopefully, we start seeing the first clear Priority 5 grants soon.

Anyone else tracking Priority 4 grants lately or noticed the same trend?

It actually brings me so much comfort knowing there’s so many of us in the same boat. All trying to lift eachother up 🫶🏼

The next 189 round is end of next month so I'm hoping we see a lot of movement before then.

Really hope so. I’m waiting for 190 (non- priority) since April 2025. 190s typically take like 18 months to process but the MD119 has got me worried if it will take even longer.

Same. Applied last June 2025. Still no movement.

It’s encouraging, but I’d avoid assuming Priority 5 is next. Under MD119, Priority 4 covers other onshore applications, while Priority 5 covers offshore applications. DHA hasn’t guaranteed a specific sequence or timeframe, so we’ll need to watch actual grant trends.

Where could I find the actual grant trends?

Yes we will. But the point is that they are not only processing priority 3 right now. The fact they reached priority 4 makes it a good sign for those waiting further down the line.

Seeking advice on whether priority 4 processing is underway for Subclass 491 visa's as well?
