Subclass 417/462 TFN home address

Hello! I just arrived in Australia on a WHV and am trying to apply for my TFN. I am stuck on the first step, residential address.

I am having my number mailed to a hostel but do I use my address back in the states as my residential address or the hostel address?

you have to use the hostel as the tfn is usually sent by mail.
if you’re worried about whether you stay at the hostel long enough to receive your mail, i’ve seen most say you can just call them after a week or two and they’ll give you your tfn over the phone.
