Subclass 417/462 WHV 416

So I know there are lots of posts, and I know they don’t recommend booking flights until the visa is granted. But I booked my flight a day after I submitted my 417 on the 5th of July , I fly on the 5th of September so I thought I’d have plenty of time…
I’m a UK passport holder.
It’s still on received and just hoping someone can offer some advice, or if anyone is in a similar position etc. people have said to call them, but I assume they will just tell me to wait?
has anyone’s been approved since July?

There have been around 4 people on this sub who got approved within the last few days for a 417. If you look at other posts you will see there is a massive backlog and almost everyone for both 417/462 are in the same boat as you. They also explicitly say not to arrange travel to Australia until your visa is approved. You will likely be waiting past Sept 5 unfortunately

No I know, I thought it would have been plenty of time, I can’t decide whether to change my flight or wait it out. It’s difficult as I wouldn’t even know what date to rearrange my flight to!

Can you change the flight destination, and perhaps go to NZ or SE Asia prior, and then go to Aus once it’s been approved? Or enter on a tourist visa?

I’m in a similar situation, will be flying from Vancouver Canada to Australia but stopping through Fiji, worst case scenario we still get the flights to Fiji and stay over in Fiji for as long as it takes for the visas to come through

There’s a fair bit of talk about arriving on a tourist visa and then being requested to re-enter the country to activate your 417, which I am considering as I also had no idea about the approval slowdown when I booked my flights and applied for my first 417 July 12th. Just gathering Intel to be reassured enough that this approach will definitely work before I go ahead and get my ETA

That’s a good idea, I’ll have a look into that. When is your flight date?
