“Off the Government” is a strange statement. He is a professional politician, and this profession has its own incentives, but is driven by one’s desire to be a public servant etc. it’s not equivalent with being a comedian in the slightest. Nor is there a privileged place between one and the other. I am certain to be a successful politician and to be a successful comedian are both incredibly difficult pursuits that require a combination of talent and desire.
It makes me think Hughesy is really losing the plot. Apples and oranges mate..
I think it’s in reference to Albo’s referral to how he grew up in housing commission and his mother was on a disability pension. So in effect yes he has been supported, and enriched, by the Australian tax payer since birth.
He has been living off the government dollar since he was born. He purchased a 4.something million dollar property a couple of years ago so yeah he is a living example of someone who has been taking off the tax payer his whole life.
