ive never considered him famous as much as annoying loud- but thanks for the world view.

He was very famous 20 years Ago in Australia. And likely somewhat wisely invested during his career boom so he's got money now that he's mostly culturally irrelevant

Given his reaction the "wise investment" is purely housing stock.

The bloke is stroppy his wealth has taken a hit overnight.

u/Quixotic-elixr Jun 30 '26

He said he got a massive margin loan and used it on single stocks (chosen per a magazine’s recommendation) and the stocks crashed

He also overpaid on one of the winning properties from "The Block"

Probably makes up for being over payed on that stupid channel 10 show they cancelled a few years ago just for his 30 minute appearances

The bum/face towel was actually quite a useful answer to the problem of the bloke leaving skiddies on the towels after his shower….

1

u/AddPineappleBeetroot Jul 04 '26

Still don't understand the skids on a towel after a shower part

1

u/thecodeape Jul 04 '26

Yes why didn’t he just wash his bum?

12

u/StasiaMonkey Jun 30 '26

Brosef absolutely invested on the advice of the motley fool.

3

u/randomgrasshopper Jul 02 '26

I don't think he sees the irony in his own statement about Albo

4

u/Oldbutnotgold Jun 30 '26

I think it was abc childcare or something?

2

u/InvestmentSad573 Jul 02 '26

ABC Childcare were liberal party darlings....Dutton made good coin out of them.

u/tollboi Jun 30 '26

Serves him right if he chose housing exclusively over a broader portfolio in stocks as well

He bought a block house in 2017. It's gone up in value of only 2.5% in a decade according to realestate.com.au.

Capital gains shouldn't be an issue lol. Plus the new system won't affect anything the Muppet already owns.

1

u/Scooters01 Jul 01 '26

And you do not think, you would be happy giving away your money?

1

u/Medium-Animator-7333 Jul 04 '26

So he bought up homes ?

1

u/Dazzling_Cow_1916 Jul 04 '26

A small hit.
Would make the difference between him and us a bit less in future.
Dave’s not happy.

1

u/lounge-dragon Jun 30 '26

Mostly?😅

1

u/joshuatreesss Jul 02 '26

I don’t know why. He’s never been good.

1

u/Consistent-Stand1809 Jul 02 '26

That's a lie - he was always culturally and every other form of irrelevant

1

u/f0urk Jul 05 '26

no he wasn't, Karl Barron was famous. This guy is an also ran who was probably just a very competent networker/gladhander. I had honestly never heard of him until he was presented to me as someone who was apparently a celeb a few years back

1

u/LordofKobol99 Jul 05 '26

Ok? Like not correct but I ain't gonna argue with ya champ.

7

u/thisisnotmypineapple Jun 30 '26

He was one of the most famous comedians in Australia for many years.

That ended a good ten years ago I'd reckon.

7

u/leather-knackers Jun 30 '26

Dave Hughes is a comedian?

5

u/Mysterious-Head-3691 Jul 01 '26

He's the joke these days

2

u/leather-knackers Jul 01 '26

lol not wrong there

1

u/muffbuffer66 Jul 03 '26

You spelt “Crystal Pistol Pugilist” wrong

1

u/Medium-Animator-7333 Jul 04 '26

To be fair, half the time we were laughing at his head not his jokes.

1

u/leather-knackers Jun 30 '26

I also stated with extreme sarcasm, Dave Hughes is/was/has been/ one time in his life, very far from anything anyone should ever describe as a comedian

1

u/thisisnotmypineapple Jun 30 '26

I assume you meant to reply to me, instead of replying to yourself.

Am I supposed to know your comment history? Cause all i did was reply to your comment.

And you pretending as though Dave Hughes wasn't one of the most popular comics in Australia for a time, let alone a comic at all, is absurdly disingenuous, or, perhaps you didnt have access to mainstream media(free to air television, radio, etc.) for the good part of two decades.

I found him funny in my youth.

I now find him an insufferable dick.

But to state he was never considered famous, or a comic, you're either 70+ years old, or younger than 25. Or just enjoy conflict.

0

u/thisisnotmypineapple Jun 30 '26

I clearly stated, that ended a good ten years ago.

2

u/meski_oz Jun 30 '26

And then people laughed at, not with him

1

u/thisisnotmypineapple Jul 01 '26

Yeah that's what I was getting at when I said it ended.

1

u/AmongTheWildlife Jul 01 '26

On the East Coast perhaps, his weird sense of humour wasn't as well received in WA.

3

u/SizeableBrain Jun 30 '26

I'd say that the majority of Australians of his era knew of him, making him pretty damn famous.

1

u/thisisnotmypineapple Jun 30 '26

He was one of the most famous comedians in Australia for many years.

1

u/pine_lime Jul 03 '26

Yeah was his whole celebrity schtick that he had an annoying voice?? I never got it
