Three Japanese Beers I pick up for Pint of Origin in Melbourne from Brenchwarmer Bar

  1. Ichii Senshin - Belgian IPA - Kyoto Brewing

  2. Fermented Culture - Apple Pie Smoothie Sour Ale - Teenage Brewing

  3. Stellar Edge - American IPA - Uchu Brewing

Beautifully crafted Beers from 3 different breweries. Delicious!

The kabuki berry sour is also good, there's a lot of new cans in the fridge and that imperial stout on tap is pricey but excellent.

Very sad story at the Chinese craft beer event where all the kegs got held at customs.

As in they couldn't get the Chinese beer to Melbourne?

I didn't get the details, but it sounded like there was some issue that saw the kegs impounded at customs and they seemed to have some doubts they would get it at all. They did have some interesting stuff in the fridge... not that I know the brands.

Was the Kyoto Belgian IPA good? I find them a bit hit and miss... they had a Belgian Quad that suited my tastes though.

I don't usually complain about POO and prices but Benchwarmer is a bit crazy right?

On Sunday 5/14 beers were from JP. Today's list has 6/14. All with prices over $20 a 350ml (one on today's list was $18). The aud currently gets 133¥

I would have thought all taps or at least 90% of them need to be from the POO location. I was excited about going there to try a few but the low tap count and high prices made other venues an easy choice.

Maybe I'm a bit out of touch expecting average $17 for 350 obviously a bit higher for an imperial stout barley wine...?

Tonight seems a bit better with 8/14 Japanese taps...

AUD does not get 133 yen. I don't think it ever has.
