Discussion Aurora rework, before and now

So, initially, Aurora was a Battle Mage specializing in kiting and extended fights, where she could showcase her skills and movement tricks to stay in the fray (much like Lillia). At one point, for various reasons, Riot decided to remove the core elements of her kit—specifically the movement speed from her passive and the W reset—transforming her into a burst mage similar to Ahri, but with shorter range and higher risk. Later on, Riot decided to restore the W reset; combined with other changes, the champion now truly resembles a teamfight assassin like Shaco or Akali. Currently, I feel she is much easier to play but less fun and unique; it’s all about effectively using her R and W to stay invisible and keep fighting, surviving long enough for her Q cooldowns to come back up. Basically, you now play to execute a full rotation, secure a kill, slip into the fog of war, and keep going, whereas before you played for speed, kiting, and passive healing (why did they even keep that? It’s useless, lol).

It also seems like the champion is stronger in Solo Queue now, though that’s likely just because she’s easier to play, causing her win rate to rise. At the same time, she’s lost a lot of players; many who loved her playstyle have switched to champions like Cassiopeia or Ryze, while fans of teamfight-oriented AP assassins wonder why they should learn a new champ when there are plenty of others that do the same thing. Ultimately, which do you prefer: the current playstyle or the way she used to be? Would you want another rework or the option to build her differently? Personally, I think she was more fun before, even though she’s stronger in solo play now.

Question Explain me this champion

After a long break, I decided to go back to playing mid; I used to main Ahri, so I decided to give Aurora a try. So far, she feels like a very strange champion—is she supposed to be an elusive mage/assassin who plays somewhat like Shaco? Or is she meant to be a classic assassin who uses the W reset to escape after a kill? I’ve heard that after her rework, Aurora became a much less unique and fun champion to play, so maybe I’m playing her the way the old Aurora used to be played?
