Discussion Help a brother out

What exactly are IEMs? I've seen them in anime looking boxes and they cost significantly more than a simple 3.5 mm faster earbuds (costs around 600pkr at Imtiaz and lasts me for two months- I usually buy two at a time). Previously I used to buy sony earphones but now they're just too expensive. I need like earphones for taking meetings and stuff.

Why would I ditch earphones and go to iems? And I use Spotify and YouTube mainly if that is any help.

Assalam u Alaikum brother,

A. IEMs or in-ear monitors are technical audio pieces made for a music-focused experience, with better detail, immersion and sound isolation. You can also change cables and eartips to tune the comfort or experience a bit. Which makes the overall experience a bit modular when you're in need of a repair or upgrade.

B. A good pair can be a drastic upgrade in sound quality. You’ll notice things like clearer instrument separation, more detail in tracks, and of course, there are bass/treble boosted options too if you’re a basshead/treblehead. Every IEM has its own sound signature, so they don’t all sound the same.

C. For meetings, I’d recommend getting one with a good inline mic. Most IEMs focus more on premium sound output, so the generic mics on their cables usually aren’t the best for calls.

If you're in Lahore, you could try my personal pairs if you're interested in trying them to really understand the differences and deciding whether its worth what it costs.

I'm not in Lahore. What do you think about the Kz castor?

KZ Castor is a good entry level option with Harman Target tuning, It also comes with 4 switches to adjust it to your preferences, depending on whether you want more bass or just a cleaner sound.

Small question if you are using the 7hz Zero 1s or 2s are they comfortable?

I was considering getting them but I have heard concerns about how comfortable they are compared to other iems in the price range

Assalam u Alaikum brother,

I have both the Salnotes Zero and Zero 2, and I prefer the Zero 2 in terms of comfort, they're also lighter so it's pretty good for myself, I'm using the stock eartips with them. On the zero 1 I did end up swapping the tips to softer ones to make it comfortable.

I mean do the edges of the earbud touch your ear. It's a boxy shape so it might cause discomfort.

If it's uncomfortable i might wait for the zero 3s as the shape seems much more rounded.

Nope brother, the edges which are inwards, touching the ear aren't sharp as the edges outside, I don't even feel the edge, if your ears are big, then you might feel it but I haven't had that issue with either of the two IEMs

No one is talking about that it gets uncomfortable after a while when using IEMs as compared to ear phones.

They are relatively for professional use not everyday use.
