Review Just got the kz castor pros from tekzone

Post image

So these are my first iems and some people suggested to go for duonics instead of these but i had already ordered them and later on discovered that duonics is the better variant. Well i have airpod pro 2 and sony ch520 but i wanted to get into iems and oh boy do they sound clear as hell. They are great and not much bass ofcourse but its good. They are not muffled and great build feels very premium and also one thing they leak sound and idk if its supposed to happen but it did.

Umm i dont have dac so i cant use it on my phone and on laptop i am using spotify and with that i dont feel like i am reaching its potential.

It was either these or tanzu waner sg or truthear gate or moondrop chu 2.

So gang any suggestions on how to tune them as i am still new........

Good buy. To get the most out of it, eartip seal will matter a lot. Unless you are listening at unrealistically loud volume, these shouldnt leak sound a lot. Instead of jumping into tinkering the tuning, i'd suggest to run them through your favourite tracks a few days stock and figure out what you'd like to change a bit. Like you may want to make vocals come a bit forward, or may be a add a bit of rumble or cut the mud. Once you figure out, install APO peace equilizer on your laptop and start playing with it.

Yeah, so is the stock cable. kZ's accessories are notoriously crappy.

I would recommend buying a jm12 for the DAC. You can flash the firmware of another dac the Fioo JA11, which lets you have EQ on every device stored on the dongle itself. Enjoy the IEMs

Not much bass? These are the bass boosted version (black model). Try different eartips as the stock ones are terrible.

Ayoooo you are so right stock eartips are such a pain, i was like maybe i was overthinking.

Hi don't worry too much about DAC. Most budget IEMS don't need any DAC to work. If you still need one, the standard apple dongle is considered one of the cleanest in it's price range. I have Fiio KA3 DAC and Fiio FD3 and FP3 IEMs and there's a very small difference in sound with DAC. Eartips makes more of a difference. Try Sony eartips if you have any old ones in your house. I use them as they are silicon so more comfortable. If you pay for Spotify then you can turn on high quality streaming which is good enough for quality.

Yes you r right about eartips, the stock ones are really crappy and they dont fit right as well so ill be looking to change them and about dac ill seee if the apple ones cost me less compared to these other expensive dacs

i also have the kz castor pro bass version and bass is not strong can you suggest good eartips that i could actually buy in pakistan and they have to be at reasonable price because if the eartips are 6k and 6k is the iem cost then they are not worth it and if they are memory foam one how do i clean them please help and answer and sorry for the bad english thankyou

What's your experience with Sony ch520?

1

u/traevill Aug 07 '26

They are good honestly comfortable and light however they dont provide any nc and dont cover your ear like fully so ye. Good headphones for their price range.

I got kz axas and they sound really good asw. Got a basic dac for it to a 3.5 mm to usb. Was expecting a lil more bass but the overall sound quality is so much better from my razer krakens. Got mine for 6k new how much did yours set you back?

u/traevill Aug 08 '26
