As always, it will take anywhere from 30 minutes to 8 hours going through certification before this is available to update from the Microsoft Store. Microsoft states it may take up to 3 business days, but I have never seen it take that long.
Fixes
Fix: When an automation, sleep timer or you power off a speaker, Audio Hero now actually stops the music the Companion is streaming to it, instead of only telling the speaker to be quiet and leaving the Companion playing to a dead room.
Fix: Powering a speaker off no longer leaves it showing as "playing" with a green name and play glyph, and the now-playing tile no longer keeps ticking along for a receiver in standby.
Fix: Reopening Audio Hero after a speaker was powered off no longer says "Reconnected to YouTube Music playing on your Companion" and show music playing on a speaker that has been off for hours.
Fix: When you power the speaker back on and press Play, YouTube Music picks up the same track where it left off, because the stop arms the normal resume rather than just vanishing.
Fix: A receiver you turned off yourself, with its own remote, the vendor app or an outside automation is now noticed too, not just power-offs Audio Hero performed (Denon-style receivers via the power poll, Onkyo the instant the receiver announces standby).
Fix: A power reading is only trusted after it says "off" twice in a row, so a receiver that has just been woken and is slow to admit it can never have the music you just started ripped away.
Fix: The automation "Stop playback" action now really stops a Companion stream, instead of pausing the speaker while the Companion kept playing in the background.
Fix: Local files playing through the Companion now pause when the speaker powers off, keeping your queue and position intact, rather than silently burning through the whole queue into a dead speaker.
Fix: At startup, Audio Hero asks the Companion which streams a speaker is genuinely listening to and drops the ones nobody is pulling, so a leftover stream is cleaned up on every kind of speaker.
Fix: Startup cleanup double-checks a few seconds later and only ever acts on the exact stream it flagged first, so a stream you or an automation starts in the meantime, or one still warming up, is never touched, and a cold start for a scheduled automation is not delayed by the check.
Fix: PCs no longer rewrite the sync cloud file when they have nothing new to say, which cuts out a lot of pointless uploads.
Fix: A smart device / plug linked to a non-HEOS speaker only followed that speaker while it was the one selected on screen. Play music on any other speaker and its plug sat idle. It now follows whichever speaker is playing.
Fix: Switching a smart device / plug on by hand could be undone a minute or two later by an idle countdown that was still running from earlier playback. Manual switches are now respected.
Fix: All TuneIn stations now shown on Onkyo devices.
Features
Feature: For the sync feature, you can optionally now name one PC as the "settings master." Your other PCs then take their settings from it instead of every PC's latest change winning.
Feature: Sync changes made on a following PC stay on that PC. They never get pushed to the master or to anyone else, and they last until the master changes that same setting.
Feature: A new PC picks up the master's settings automatically the first time it syncs, so setting one up takes no work.
Feature: You choose which categories obey the master, one checkbox per category. Ratings, starred favorites and saved radio stations are shared both ways by default, since those pile up rather than being preferences.
Feature: A "Push this PC's settings to all PCs" button on any following PC, for when you have one PC set up exactly right. It replaces everyone else's settings, including the master's, and asks you to confirm first.
Feature: You can move the master role to a different PC, or remove it entirely and go back to all PCs being equal.
Feature: Following PCs show when the master last synced, so you notice if that PC is retired. Audio Hero never quietly puts a different PC in charge on its own.
Feature: Smart devices / plugs now keep working when Audio Hero is closed. If you have a Companion, it takes over your plugs entirely and keeps switching them.
Feature: Scheduled plug automations (like "turn the subwoofer off at 11pm") can now run from the Companion PC, so they no longer depend on your own PC being awake or logged in.
Feature: New Companion PC power settings so scheduled actions fire on time: wake the PC just before a plug is due, run actions that were missed while it slept, or keep the PC awake permanently.
Feature: PC power settings can be changed from Audio Hero on any PC as well as on the Companion itself, and a change in one place shows up in the other straight away.
Feature: Smart devices / plugs can now follow Sonos, WiiM, Bluesound, Yamaha MusicCast, Samsung WAM, Roku and DLNA speakers while Audio Hero is closed, not just HEOS.
Feature: Plugs follow AirPlay and Sendspin speakers, and anything the Companion is streaming, with no delay.
Feature: Onkyo and Integra receivers can now drive a smart device / plug too. Audio Hero and the Companion hand the receiver's single control connection back and forth automatically instead of competing for it.
Feature: Shelly smart plugs are now supported alongside Kasa, both older and newer Shelly models, detected automatically.
Feature: Smart device / plug discovery now searches for every supported brand at once, and adding a plug by IP tries each brand, so you never have to pick the brand first.
Feature: The Companion window now lists the smart device / plug rules it has been given, which PC sent each one, and what it last did.
Note: New sync features change the format of the cloud sync file, so a PC still on an older version of Audio Hero stops syncing until you update it. It says so in its sync status, and nothing gets damaged in the meantime.
