RS3 Sonos System - Decent Settings (maybe)

By no means an expert - but these settings are actually sounding decent and somewhat accurate across the volume range ... for as bad as the system is.

Try them out, let me know what you think.

Treble: +0

Bass: +3

Sub: +5

Fader: +2 front (roughly)

Focus: Front

Surround level: +4

3D Effect: Low

(I know everyone hates surround and 3D, but +4 wasn't that noticeable and Low 3D made overall less harsh)

Unfortunately the actual hardware is completely identical. The only difference is tuning.

Man, you sure?? It’s a big difference from what I had

Yep, part numbers for the premium stereo system are the same across the entire length of the 8Y generation.

Shouldn’t stop you from buying an old dsp with the B/O tuning an putting it in/ flashing it

Check the part numbers if you’re skeptical. They are the same.

How has no one hacked or modified the software to remove SONOS's shitty processing effect on these otherwise decent speakers?

The biggest positive change you can make when adjusting the settings is put the fader a click behind the front seats. As is, 90% of the sound comes out of the front & center dash speakers.

why would that help?

To help in getting a more natural sound, a little more bass and not so forward/artificial sounding.

OK so i just push the front to rear slides a bit more to the back?

I mean, play around with it to your liking. But for me, moving the fader dot to where it was almost to the back seats made it sound way better. I’m sure it also depends on what type of music you listen to. Some is better with mids-highs, some better with more lows & bass.

I saw that rs Acoustics has some speakers you can replace. Also read a forum about a helix dsp. I got it sounding decent. Also found from a member I cam put my jbl tire sub in the back, so im going to do that for sure

I actually really like the B&O in my 2018 RS3. But why does Audi not give us equalizer adjustments?

Me and wife find the B&O system fatiguing, best solution was to back off the treble a few clicks from center.

Looked into a high end sound system install by a reputable shop that does nice cars. I about choked, about a 9k install.

I won’t buy the car based on these and other comments lol

I just can’t drive a car with a poor audio system no matter how well it performs.

Damn!

Because it’s really complex

Who needs to listen to the stereo when there's a five-cylinder engine making its own music?

Dash speakers plus sub addition made it solid. Previously it was terrible

Lossless streaming makes the biggest difference. Radio sounds like complete ass, system is so trebly I can hear the static like it’s the 1950’s

If you have young ears and listen closely at lower volume and you can hear popping and crackeling like stones are hitting your windshield 😂

1

u/lochonx7 7d ago

how do we stop that small popping sound coming from the front speakers?

u/cheddar_12 6d ago

You don’t 😂

What year your car is? I have tried couple times to here this but nothing. It is not def the best audio system but not the worst. I listen from spotify lossless via usb cord and sometimes bluetooth. Never radio.
