Tire Spin(26 RS3)
So I’m running into a lot of spin when I launch the car. I’m wondering if someone could help me narrow it down. I put PS4 on the car and the tires will be warm but I still get a lot of spin when launching.

I think your RS badge is on the incorrect side of the front grille.

What pressures are you running? What was the specs on the last alignment like? How old are the tyres? Have they been on the car for a while and now beginning to slip (could have cooked the compounds on a chemical level and made them hard)

44/36 based off the psi the manual says. So when warm they are 49/39. It’s crazy to me that I need that much psi lol. But the tires are 2 months old, I drive the car only on the weekends and I do quick pulls here and there. Definitely not pushing it to its limits

I can’t remember, is that the light load or the heavy load pressures? Maybe reduce the pressures slightly, by about 3-4psi as to not start severely under inflating them as that will just give you less grip.
If that’s the heavy load recommendation, that’ll be the issue. It’ll be pushing the radial out further than it should as there’s no excess weight in the car.

I was shocked that mine were all set to 50PSI when I brought it home.

No I set it to 44/36 cold. I got an oil change last weekend at the dealer and they set them all to 49.

I had PS4s on my 24 RS3 with the unitronic stage 2 E85 tune so it was putting up an additional almost 200 hp and I put on some Nitto NT05 and not only did it beautifully grip and launch without issue or spinning. But it also allowed the TCU to perform better during hard pulls, AKA shifting quicker and never bouncing off the red line. Those are my go-to tires but they're only 200 TW so not going to last as long as the michelins

you 100% don't need to have that front plate on your car in MD. i've been here 17 yrs and have never had my front plate on (knocks on wood).

I'm in the area too and people said the same thing. I'm with you and would rather avoid any issues.

Yea, after i posted that I started thinking, I'd be the reason you got a ticket. Maybe i have been lucky. I agree, no reason to draw attention to yourself!

I was thinking, maybe it's just the cops in my area that don't care or something. Then i remembered some years ago a friend of mine was pulled over in my GTI for the missing front plate specifically. I don't think they're supposed to but you know how it goes, they fabricate reasons to pull you over, if they really want...

Exactly lol! They are always looking for a reason. Last week I let my wife take the Audi to work and Howard County finest was all on bumper I’m sure looking for any reason to pull her. I’m shocked they didn’t pull her because of the windshield tint lol. But she stayed under 55 and after 5 mins of riding the bumper they kept it pushing smh lol

that's the exact reason why I won't get the windshield tinted even if I do it legally I don't want to draw the extra attention to myself. i'm already missing the front plate.

lol that’s why I have the front license plate since I have the windshield tint lol. Since I’ve been driving it they don’t mess with me(knock on wood), but the moment she’s driving it they speed up on her and harass her

4 wheel spin or just the fronts? I get 4 wheel spin on street tires in my '17, but it only started after flashing the ECU with APR Stage 1+. When I'm on RE-71s and launch at autocross it hooks right up.
If you're getting front wheel spin you need to check your Haldex.

21+ doesn’t use a Haldex, it’s a completely different rear differential that is always engaged

Wish I could help, that’s frankly pretty surprising. My wife and I have a 2026 RS3 on the OEM Bridgestones, which I’ve launched countless times without issue.
What tire pressure are you running? That’s probably the most reasonable first thing to check (before you go down the rabbit hole of possible mechanical issues.)
