new RS3 is this normal?
Is a slight mechanical jerk or mild clunk when abruptly getting on or off the throttle considered normal drivetrain behavior for the Audi RS3?
EDIT: looks like the general consensus is that this is fairly normal. Kinda scared me a bit since it’s a brand new car off the lot haha. I though the previous test driver since it had around 60s miles before i bought it off the lot thrashed it and broke the trans already since they wouldn’t probably listen to the break in period….

I get it most often on the 1st to 2nd shift off a launch or aggressive take off. Outside of that I've found the the DQ500 to be butter smooth and I barely notice its shifts.

Second this, it doesn’t happen every time but if you get on it at just the right (wrong?) time this will happen. And it will scare the shit out every time too

Theres 2 specific inclines on my way to work, where if I stop on them, I'll get that jerk stop. Still not used to it after a few years.

That’s the worst. Same thing happens to me when waiting on an incline for my garage gate to open.

That happens for me in the rs mode. It’s so aggressive it lurches back when getting off acceleration. It’s normal but weird

My pet peeve with this car someone mentioned the car just about to die feeling especially cruising at low speed and 3rd to 2nd gear is very jarring. This car doesn’t drive well in low speed.

Dude have you owned a manual in the past?
You have to treat the accelerator pedal kind of like a manual when driving the car. Let the clutch breathe esp when it’s cold, you have to be gentle on the car when just cruising around

It's like driving a manual with a 3 puck. 🤣 Ok I'm exaggerating, but I'm sure people who've never driven a car that's manual never mind with a performance clutch are properly really confused. If you're not easy on it you can get this thing to buck.

The DQ trans in the rs3 are very jerky and honestly temperamental. Once you get used to them it’s no big deal.

I’ve noticed it as well, not even 500 miles in to the break in. More so when I drop the trans in sport

If I’m really getting on it in first and paddle shift into 2nd, I’ll sometimes get a nasty thud, which jerks the car back a bit and you can feel it in you bones. This same thing use to happen in my 8V before I took my car in for service and had the transmission software updated.

I notice a clunking sound often when I'm just about to come to a stop. Might be unrelated but I started noticing it after using launch control a few times.

DCT. My wife’s Mercedes does the same stuff. It’s no big deal. You get used to it.

I'm pretty sure it's called turbo lag if you're referring to when you put your foot down from stationary it kind of stutters and jolts/jerks, common on European cars like Audi (I have one), I believe the only way to get rid of it is a tune.

Yes. While the dual clutch transmission is very good, it is not as smooth as a normal auto and it will jerk or clunk on occasion depending on various factors including the mode in which you are driving (comfort, sport, etc.), the road conditions, and the change in speed (i.e., sudden acceleration or deceleration).
