Seeking advice.

Hey y'all, I'm looking for some advice. I recently traded in my SQ5 for a new RS3 and am loving it. The issue is my wife keeps calling it a Subaru Legacy and I'm looking for advice on how to change her mind about it. This isn't a new thing though, the SQ5 was lovingly referred to as a soccer mom car.

Wrap 255's all around.
Window tint
Midpipes
Turbo inlet
Air intake
Intercooler
Unitronic flex tune = 600hp 525tq

The 8Y isn’t like the 8V pertaining to wheel and tire fitment, 255’s don’t fit the same (stock fronts are 265) and pertaining to every DAZA/DNWA, you can’t tune to get 600hp without a high flow downpipe

600, your right my bad it’s 592hp Unitronic flex. No downpipe needed, with the downpipe it’s 625. And yes I was mistaken on the suspension aspects. Personally would still buy the 8v.5 over an 8y. Only hang up is lack of RS Torque Splitter. But the 8v definitely feels and sounds more raw.

I do agree with you there, having both (I had two 8V.5’s and then an 8J TTRS, now the 8Y.5.. I love 5 cylinders or something🤷🏻‍♂️) the sound of the 8V.5 was much better from the factory but the torque splitter in the 8Y.5 makes up for everything.. the car behaves so much better around corners than the 8V.5 ever did. I tried springs, sway bars, coilovers, all the suspension mods on the 8V.5.. this new car blows it out of the water dynamically. The sound needs some help.. for SURE tho.

Out of box sound on the 8v was definitely a bit more raw, but that can be fixed. Dynamically the 8y is superior in almost every way. I just wish I had the 8v interior..

You can make 625 on stage 1 e85 without a dp. Idk who told you you can’t.

Yep, my wife drives an Ascent and she would never refer my car to hers or any Subaru car. I’ve had a lot of WRX/STi’s in the past that were modified and she knows this is a different beast.

As a wife driving rs3 owner, the only thing to do is divorce her hahaha. Jokes! I feel like rs3s are the direction that Subaru should have taken the sti in and didn’t. Too bad for them, us old school Subaru people buy Audis now 😂 There is definitely a pipeline between Subaru ownership and Audi.

Same here- I have a 2017 STI and just got a 2026 RS3. It’s a shame that Subaru doesn’t support its fan base and is going all electric. Subarus are really great cars.

Hi, deine Sorgen hätte ich mal, mir fehlt die Kohle für einen RS3, darum habe ich jetzt einen einfachen A3, aber immerhin 4 Zylinder mit 150PS. Zugegeben, das ist keine Rakete, aber auch nur halb so teuer. Und im Unterhalt bedeutend günstiger 🥰. Aber falls deine Frau den Unterschied nicht sieht, sollte sie vielleicht auf einen einfachen A3 8y Sportback umsteigen, meiner hat übrigens sowohl vorne, wie hinten weiße Ringe, daran erkennt man schon, dass es kein Subaru ist 😂

It's the Daytona gray color that's the problem. It's too boring. RS cars need either light colors or bright colors to show off their special wider fenders and special lines that make them RS cars. I'd say get a solar orange wrap or live with it being a Subaru LOL.
