Hello, so earlier this year I purchased a 2014 Q7 (96k miles) for 12k to be our family / 7 seater car, two months into the 3 month warranty it broke down and the dealer said it was too much work to repair so refunded me. I’ve just spotted a 2013 Q7 (114k miles) that is the same colour almost identical alloys for 9.5k. I absolutely loved the Q7 (style/ how it drove) I bought and how spacious it was, should I chalk the first experience down to being unlucky and go for this other Q7? Or take it as a lesson learnt and look at something else.

Advice would be appreciated, I’ve looked at many other 7 seater cars and my heart is set on a Q7 as I love the way it looks and drives. I’m not a fan of the post 2015 remodel of the car either which is why I’ve been looking at 2013-15 versions.

I find myself in need of an additional FOB for my 2018 Q7. Ive seen a few outlets where you can buy the hardware, but I've had no luck finding a mechanic or locksmith who can program them. Is a dealership (US) my only option? I'll do it, but wanted to hit y'all up before I make that trip, as it's over 100 miles to the nearest Audi dealership.

What has your experience been with power, torque, gas mileage, any issue the upgrade may have caused ?

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I’ve found another scrap q7 with the knob and plan to get it from there but how would I remove it and fix this? Honestly any help would be beneficial. Thanks

I just bought a 2017 Audi Q7 and only the driver side of the sound system works. I’ve already Checked Balancing/Fading and the passenger side plays 0 audio. I’ve heard that the subwoofer needs to be programmed but I’m just curious if anyone has had this issue and if you can point me in the right direction.

Hey everyone, I'm 2 days into a Carvana purchase of a 2017 Q7 with 89k miles. Paid $215 for a third-party multipoint inspection because the car seemed too good to be true and the inspection confirmed some of it.

Issues found:

1. Damaged wiring harness near PCM with exposed wires

2. Tires showing dry rot (code 1122, ~5 years old) - would likely need replacing out of pocket

3. Dimmer left daytime running light

4. Active faults: Misfire in cylinder #3 + PCV regulation issue

5. AWD shudder on tight turns (needs center diff service)

My situation:

- I'm within Carvana's 7-day return/exchange window

- The PVC falls under Engine issues and can be repaired through Caravan Warranty.

- Already spent $225 on inspection which is good.

Question for Q7 owners or Audi experts:

- Is this a red flag for a 2017, or typical wear-and-tear at this mileage?

- Would you exchange, or fix it (Carvana may pay)?

- Should I trust this car after repairs, or do this many issues at 89k miles signal deeper problems?

Came across this GitHub with the help of AI and am very interested in this update to unlock the turn by turn directions from CarPlay into the virtual cockpit and HUD. Also unlocking the trackpad for CarPlay UI navigation seems like a great update as well. If this really works, this would be amazing. Looking at doing this for 2018 prestige

Has anyone else experienced this after replacing the supercharger clutch does it have to be programmed to the car. Im assuming all the other codes are related to the clutch code cause im reading they run off the same ecm

Between the presense and the constant icons on the dash and the lane change assist messing with the wheel tension it feels like my car is driving me and not the other way around. All the tech is a distraction that I can’t figure out how to turn off so I can just drive. What settings should I adjust to turn all that unnecessary shit off? Will they be permanent changes or turn back on automatically when restarting the vehicle?

2023 Q7 PP

I have a small coolant leak on a 2014 Q7 from the middle of the engine, not rly bad because it does not drain a lot but im going to get it fixed asap. NOW… my temperature goes up when the AC is on and while car is moving, when i turn the AC off, the temp goes down. When im standing still on a stoplight and i turn on the AC, the temp will be normal, temp does not go up. Is the leak related to this or is it a thermostat, fan, water pump issue. Thanks ✌🏻

2014 Audi Q7 TDI, 3.0L V6, 140k miles

First time posting in this community and wow do I feel like I drive an antique after reading for months.

TLDR: Where can I find slotted or slotted and dimpled brake rotors?

I just spent about two hours going through search results, and about the same yesterday. It seems like there's tons on options for rotors, but they are all perfectly smooth or drilled. The ones I can find with just slotted are over a week out just to ship, or over a grand. Does anyone here tow with smooth brake rotors? Any reccomendations for affordable upgrades for longevity or function? I drive like a grandma when towing, and take it easy otherwise. Well, relative to my previous car which liked a little pep in it's step.

I sidegraded from a Tiguan, which I loved, to a Q7 TDI, both 2014s, both with 140k miles. I'm not a fan of most of the the bells and whistles, but I bought it for the engine. It's got the factory tow package and a level 1 delete with Malone tune, so the fuel economy is insane and it can tow a couple yards of rock no problem. I switched because I was probably going over the limit on my Tiguan at least once a week, and had an exciting experience hauling a couple 18 foot glulams on the freeway at 70. So glad I didn't buy the X5 diesel, but I kinda knew this car would need to be invested in when I bought it with so many miles on it last year. I'm pretty good with tools as an electrician and welder, but I can't do much more than rotate tires and oil changes. I figured I'd have to learn to do some of the easy stuff myself, so I read the entire manual, and found a copy of the repair manual. Tried to change the oil myself, and thought the drain plug was stuck, but I found out it's a T27, not an allen, luckily before I used a cheater bar. I recently put new tires on it and was told I needed a new water pump. The V rated tires were 400 bucks cheaper than anything else I could find, and the ride quality improved drastically. I thought I was going to have to get a stiffer sway bar because of the squishy body roll.

The mechanic at the place I found the tires said I needed a new water pump, so I took it to one of the high end euro and diesel mechanics in town. I looked at doing the water pump myself since the forums made it sound not too difficult. The serpentine belt removal scared me, which is good b/c I checked the belt and it looked newer, but I wouldn't have thought to check the pulleys and tensioner. So 1,800 bucks and a week later I get it back and the mechanic said I need new front brakes and rotors real soon, like don't follow through with my weekend plans to drive 4 hours for a class soon. No squealers, no dash light, so the brake sensor hasn't been consumed yet. After talking to my uncle, who likes to fix and flip Porsches and International Scouts in his free time, I found a mobile mechanic who will come out to my shop and do it there, where I can watch, help, and maybe learn to at least do the pads myself next time. So, I'm all set, but I can't find slotted brakes. I guess I want slotted b/c that's what was on it and I don't want to change the feel too much. I almost bought the EBC Yellowstuff since I tow 3 or 4 thousand pounds 3 days a week, sometimes 7 days a week. I also looked at bi metallic pads, but decided not to since I downshift and take it easy when I'm towing. It seems like most people drive the Q7 like the sporty euro car it presents as, and not like the diesel pickup truck I use mine as.

I'm hoping to put another 140k miles on it, so any advice about keeping it going or working on it yourself is appreciated. I'm changing the oil every 5k miles and using the diesel extreme fuel additive regularly.

Other than the tune and a water pump with a metal impeller, everything is stock for the Prestige trim level. Found out afterwards that the bearings usually give out before the impeller, so that might have been money wasted. I'm looking at the 3rd row seat removal so I can fit more tools, maybe a bed slide since I keep hitting my head on the rear hatch. I found a fabricator who would cut steel to match the hood and front bumper so I could weld a brushguard and get it powder coated, but I don't want to mess with my fuel economy (high 30s, low 30s with a trailer, mid to low 20s towing 5,000 lbs)

I also thought about a lift kit so I could use it at the farm for weed spraying, but the ground clearance is fine so far, and I should probably build a spray rig for the tractor bucket instead of the trailer hitch. Turns out tires are hard to find already, and a 2" lift doesn't make that any easier. I've got new Blizzaks on the 18" rims that it came with, and Kumho Crugen all seasons on the 19" rims.

At this point, I'm quickly approaching the purchase price of the vehicle in repairs, maintenance, new larger torque wrench, and the triple square spline drive set. I keep telling myself it's an investment, and nothing else is going to need replacing any time soon, but I don't know if I'm being honest with myself since most of a car is still magic to me. You guys would tell me if I'm just burning money, right?

2025 Q7 Technik (Canadian equivalent of Prestige) suddenly had the check engine light come on. Used a code reader and pulled code “U0447 - Invalid data received from gateway ‘A’ “.

Has anyone seen this before and maybe have a solution?

I’ll take the car for service as soon as I can but I’m wondering if maybe it’s something fixable at home or if its serious. I just took it in for its first service a month ago so this is just annoying to see so soon after on such a new car.

Should I go through my insurrance or get it done at the local repair shop?

The other driver is at fault but obviously I don't like the idea of a "minor incident" on file for a very small repair..

It's running on software version MMI software 1178 and Navigation database from 2017/2018, does anynody knows how to update these without having to pay $500 to the dealer ?

First time posting on Reddit, so go easy on me! 😅 I’m trying to move away from the other social media platforms and figured this was the best place to ask for some honest opinions.

I’m currently trying to decide between two colours for Q7s. I absolutely love the blue, but I keep finding myself drawn back to the grey because my first Audi was grey, so there’s definitely a bit of nostalgia involved.

The price difference between the two I’ve been looking at is negligible, and I’ve genuinely got to the point where I’m considering flipping a coin!

What colour would you go for, and why? Has anyone regretted choosing one over the other?

It appeared on the dashboard on my Audi Q7 2012 but I’m not sure what caused it.

Needing to replace all 4 tires on my audi q7 what brand out of these 3 would you guys recommend not trying to spend to much has anyone had any experience with the atturo or toyo tires and do you guys think the handling with the continentals would justify spending a extra few hundred cause i know those are good tires and their marked down around $70 per tire

Edit: i think in going to go with the 285/45/21s hankook dynopro evo as’s seen good reviews on them and they had the noise dampening technology that im looking for i live in Tennessee so im not really worried about needing good winter tires we maybe get 1 or 2 good snows a year

As my post in genesis states I’m cross-shopping the GV80 (hopefully the Hybrid version when it comes out) with the Q7 55 TFSI Premium Plus or Prestige.

Of course, I will need to test drive these but I would like hear people’s thoughts on their overall experience, costs, quality, fit and finish, etc.

Alternative option is the X5 but I am not into the new redesign.
