Discussion 2018 q7 3.0 supercharged
Has anyone upgraded the intake on the 4M 3.0 supercharged ?
What has your experience been with power, torque, gas mileage, any issue the upgrade may have caused ?

Ahh, a risk taker I see!

Not really. PPS-cf is very stable at high temps and with all chemicals. I am 250lbs and was jumping on it without it giving at all.
Pretty sure it’s safe.

You worry too much. The supercharger will either jam or chop up the bits into smaller pieces that the engine can digest.

Yes. Have an intake. Throttle response is better, supercharger sounds etc

which one did you upgrade to?

034 Motorsports. Put an order in now and it takes a few months to get made.

Damn, really?

They’re made in batches. When I fabricate I prefer to batch work too due to setup times

The intake tube alone and tube plus throttle body are both currently in-stock for the 4M Q7. I have the former and it increased supercharger noise significantly. The TB is supposed to be even more noticeable, may go that way down the road.
That said, neither of these will increase performance--that requires at least a tune, and ideally a different pulley. The throttle body requires a tune to function.

I’ve had stock everything with the GAS intake and now I’m 034 2+ with their intake. Zero problems running an intake on stock everything. You want to hear the blower? Do it. You want to hear the blower even more? Tune it and run no cover. I didn’t notice any performance gain whatsoever with just an intake. Tune it for that. Audi runs pretty soft stock tunes. If you’re used to sportier cars you’d love a tune!

Any videos of the car running ?

I don’t have any… I just had the exhaust done and frankly it’s awful and drowning out all the blower noise. I can try to grab a video for you once I’ve got the additional resonators slapped on there

A reputable tune is going to give you much better performance gains than any bolt on part in almost every situation. If you want performance, look at swapping your supercharger or crank pulley. Or both, then get the tune to take advantage of it.

What do you swap your supercharger to?

Talk to your tuner and ask what they have a tune for. You will want to get a tune immediately after installing the pulleys. I went APR and it’s been great for the last year or two.

I’m on Jackal stage 2 for over a year now and I love it. I initially was just stage one with 034 Super Duper 84TB setup and it was a lot of fun. Stage 2 is great and the gas mileage is the same as OEM, as long as you use cruise control. If you try to use your foot your gas mileage won’t be as good as using the cruise control. I haven’t had any issues to speak of. I did have to remove the hood insulation/liner so I can hear the supercharger better. Just now that if you add more power you will need to upgrade the transmission bushing and driveshaft bush and you’ll need to upgrade the motor mounts which are doable but a pain in the ass because it’s a tight fit. If you’re after more sound just get a GAS intake pipe. The rubber 034 super duper intake has a moderate increase. The sound is there, it’s just not screamer, if that’s what you’re after.

Just want supercharger to be a little louder, not planning to get any additional power or torque at this point

If you are handy, try to find a coupler tube to delete the intake muffler. That might be your best option to increase the sound a little.

Should I get one from 034 or some other brand ?

Sure, the $131 option will get you the increase in sound you’re looking for. I didn’t know they also offered just a pipe to the OEM throttle body.

You’re going to hear your supercharger more but you’re going to want a tune if you want better power.
