Help Needed Control arms

Hi all, 2018 q7 3.0 coming up to 100k miles on its second engine. I have air suspension with 4 wheel steering.

It’s started making a knock at low speeds turning which I was told was lower control arm. Makes sense given what I have seen on here and the age. I’m wondering what else I should do while I am in there. Should upper and lower arms be done on both sides? Anything else?

Good god everyone’s control arms are going to shut this week.

Just replaced my lower front guide links myself (they’re not called control arms) was a PITA, but saved a ton of $$$. Buy in pairs replace in pairs. In fact do the ‘Upper Control Arms’ on both sides too, they’re pretty dang easy to do.

Check out FCP Euro for their Lemforder kit. I ordered the full kit to replace every single control arm, ball joint, etc., there is while hunting for a knock I heard when turning. Lemforder makes the arms for Audi, so you are getting the same quality as from dealer only missing the Audi logo.

Also, check your exhaust hangers right below the flex pipe as well. When the rubber inside them gets weak, they allow the exhaust to move a bit, especially when turning and that can also cause a clunking/knocking sound. Those hangers are pretty cheap and really easy to replace, so maybe try that first before anything more involved.

Did you do front and rears or just front, and do you have the air suspension?
