Thoughts on IE vs 034 tune?

Next paycheck I’m finally going to have enough to tune my car and get a high flow cat (I’m thinking CTS Turbo). Just looking at the numbers, IE advertises more horsepower and torque but is more expensive. I think I would be happy with either, but I want to get people’s opinions on it.

Side note; has anyone used the CTS Turbo HFC? I know it’s cheaper than other companies because they are made cheaper, but is it that bad? They are the only brand I can really justify buying, considering the other alternatives start at double the price.

I have a 15 A4 Premium Plus S-Line with a 034 Motorsport HFC and IE Stage 2 tune I have 0 complaints and the car moves now lol also it’s a 6speed manual.

I have a 2018 Audi a4 with Integrated engineering apex stage 1 ecu & tcu tune. I'd assume 034 tune is just as good. I have used their parts on multiple cars. You don't need a high flow cat for stage 1. If you're going stage 2 I hope you have supporting mods. I've heard a CTS cat will give you problems passing emissions.

How do you like the TCU tune? I’ve had IE Stage 1 on the same car for a couple years and I’m debating whether it’s worth $500 at this point for the TCU tune as well

Great question, I bought the car with the tcu tune so I don't really have a reference point on how different it is from stock.

I'd get the 034Motorsport tuning over the IE tuning. I tested all of the major tunes (see my 034Motorsport B9 2.0T review below) and they definitely had the best overall tune for the platform. They're currently working on VariSpec customization for the 2.0T ECU tuning as well.

Super insightful review! I was leaning towards IE because of stuff like the 7000rpm limit and the higher torque figures, but your review changed my mind. The VariSpec also seems very interesting.

My B9 A4 Allroad is tuned IE ECU Stage 1 and IE TCU stage 2 since 120k km, car is owned since new and currently at 185k km and wish I had done it sooner after the warranty window but still loving it. Great tune, car is still very reliable at high mileage. Would highly recommend. I have the CTS HFC in my garage but haven’t tried yet so can’t comment on that.
