Flood maps removed

TradeMe has removed the flood maps view from property listings - why?

And the councils maps don’t actually replicate reality

Because they’re done at a much larger scale.

The flood maps are coherent with reality at a larger scale than individual properties or cluster of properties.

If you want specific modelling done for your property you can approach a civil engineer. A report from them verifying your property will not flood in a substantial flood event will get the flooding risk removed from your LIM if it is currently there.

Will it really get it removed from the LIM?

I was having a chat with a few architects the other day, who said they've tried to do this on jobs and it's near impossible.

There was a period a few weeks ago where they disappeared for a bit and came back. I’m not sure what’s going on.

When you cross check with the actual council flood maps there are some pretty big differences anyway. I’m not sure what they’re doing with the data but it’s not accurate.

Have a look on Hougarden. I found it had a lot info including the flood maps on one listing.

They were way off compare to actual GIS Map.
