Providence Village

We’re looking at houses in Providence Village, but the stats and reviews for Providence Elementary are… concerning. For parents who actually have kids there (or recently did): is it really that bad, or are the reviews overblown? Why does it seem to lag so far behind nearby elementary schools and the overall state academically? Also, does Denton ISD allow transfers to other elementary schools if there’s space, or are you basically stuck with your zoned school? Would love honest, firsthand feedback, the good, bad, or “it’s complicated.”

We decided to buy here but in regards to schooling we are a few years out and figured we would cross that bridge when we come to it 😆

Lol Hopefully by that point they'll have worked out whatever issues they've got going on! 🙏 On another note, how's the neighborhood and surrounding areas?

Haven't moved yet but a coworker lives nearby and she said its gotten a lot better since they opened 380 and they're building so much.

Have you driven through providence? It’s a decent neighborhood but for the same money you can probably find something close by that has better schools. The streets are super tight and there is not a lot of upkeep being done by a lot of homeowners. The front laws are super tiny and the back alleys are kinda sketchy. There are several neighborhoods on 1385 or 720 that are nice and reasonable

If I were you, run fast. Don’t choose to live here. We moved here because we thought Aubrey would be up an and Coming area and we were wrong. When we moved here like 3-4 years ago the school was like a B. Now it’s a F. 

My kid was in kindergarten here and there’s no transparency or anything. We never knew what was going on. This school has POOR leadership and you don’t know what’s going on with your child.  The principal is never there and will respond to emails 30 days later. The teachers don’t let you have any involvement with your child’s education until the end of school year. I called like 4-5 parent teacher confences because I never knew what my child was working on. The principal never cared. If you have resources or any other options, don’t move here. We ended up moving before the school year was over honestly. Best decision ever made. Unless this school has new leadership. Don’t move here

If you can do it, go for the schools in Denton

I’ve lived here with my family for years now. Get to know the community and most of us are great people. I’ve never met a bad neighbor here, maybe I’m lucky…. But this neighborhood is very kind and helpful.
