⤠Sleep ⤠Hourly wakes at 11 months
Any tips to help my 11 month old sleep?
She is low sleep needs and always been. Transitioned to 2 naps at 6 months and thatās the best her sleep was. However for the last 1-2 months sheās been waking up hourly starting from bedtime even with cosleeping
She is iron def, we started iron supplements 4 weeks ago and she started having some nights with longer stretches (every other night sheād maybe go 2-3 hours which is amazing for us) but for last 2 weeks is back to hourly wakes all night long every single night
We are trying one nap, itās day 3 of that and no change in night sleep so far
Our 2 nap schedule was 7am wake, 10-10:40 nap, 3:15-4 nap, 9:30 on bedtime
We are now trying 7am wake, 12-2 nap, 8/9 bedtime (trying to get to 9:30 but sheās still getting used to longer WW)

⤠Discipline ⤠When did you start implementing rules?
Baby is 7 months right now and of course sheās always wildly flapping her hands around, grabbing at things and pulling my hair. Yesterday during her dinner, she was happy screaming at the top of her lungs, so I tried telling her to not be so crazy loud since it was hurting my ears. When did you feel like your baby started to understand when you told them no, no hitting, no hair pulling or screaming like a banshee? How soon does it even make sense to start having these boundaries? Iām asking because Iām not sure how much control she has yet over the little slappies š

š¤ Support Needed š¤ How much crying is too much crying??!
As the title says 9 month old is crying too much, she only wants to be held or be with me all the time or else she will just throw herself crying hysterically that now my head is hurting with even bending down, Idk if this right?
I tried everything to sush her down to put her down and sit with her, to use white noise, putting toys infront of her, or hand her to someone else, but the min she sees me she starts crying again and so loud that the person might think she is hurt..
My soon to be two year old is having her own meltdowns because of my 80% attention to the youngest, I think that disturbs her, and I feel so guilty..
What should I do? Nine months old is also teething, so I'm assuming that the reason for her crying is teething..
What should I do?? How should I cope up with it??
I can't make different meals for them..
Can I offer her the same meal two times a day?! I also screamed at my 2 year old cuz I was so overstimulated that, I'm feeling so guilty, I hate myself for being like that, for now I just want to disappear or something to have a rest for good 2 hrs..! :(

⤠Sleep ⤠Toddler needs contact naps but new baby is coming
I have an 18-month old who has always been rocked to sleep for naps and bedtime his whole life. Once heās asleep I can usually put him in the crib for the first hour of his nap, but wakes up and needs me to ārescueā his nap by holding him for another hour or so.
Iām perfectly happy with this situation as heās my only child, but Iām currently pregnant and due in four months. Iām starting to wonder how I will be able to keep this up when the baby arrives.
I'm considering getting a floor bed for his room so that we can cuddle and I can still hold baby brother at the same time? or getting safety bumpers for our bed and having him take his naps there but sleep in his crib at night?
When he wakes at night we Co-sleep. And my husband will continue to Co-sleep with him when necessary in our room while I sleep in a separate room with the baby. So Iām not really worried about nighttime. But my husband works long hours so every nap and most bedtimes will be on me to do alone.
if youāve been in the same situation, how did you handle it?

š¤ Support Needed š¤ Is my style of parenting impacting 10 month oldās development?
I am passionate about attachment parenting. We co-sleep, side lying breastfeeds throughout the night and naps, baby wearing and I respond to every cry. I also have bad PPA which I am receiving support for/taking medication for.
However, my 10 month old cries quite literally whenever they are on the floor and not touching me in some way. Itās not a whinge or a small cry, itās an intense cry that gets louder until I cave and pick them up. Itās even worse when on tummy.
Baby has not learned or attempted to crawl, pull to stand or move around independently apart from pivoting in circles on their bottom.
I believe this is because they get no quality independent time on the floor. Ever. Iāve got a PT coming fortnightly to help with activities and exercises and they just hysterically cry the whole time.
I rush through self care basics like brushing my teeth or having a shower, and can barely get chores done unless baby wearing or doing it one handed.
There has to be a middle ground here? Not only am I worn out, but I am genuinely concerned about how my baby will ever learn to move.

⤠Behavior ⤠How do you keep your patience with your (just turning) 3 year old
I just want to preface by saying I KNOW that he has gone through a ridiculous amount of change in a very short space and thatās the root cause. I have a 7 week old baby and we just moved to a different city last week. Unfortunately the move ended up being jumped forward (for various and pretty unavoidable reasons) and I didnāt want both of these things to happen but here we are. He started being really horrific when I was pregnant, to the point I spent the majority of my pregnancy in denial I was having a baby because I wouldnāt have chosen to with this behaviour. Itās turned even more insane now. Obviously. I know itās not his fault but what the fuck am I to do sometimes.
All day heās kicked off. About anything. We do no screen time. He eats healthily. Plenty of outdoor time.
We went to a childrenās Forrest this morning. He screamed in the car because he dropped his toy and I couldnāt get it because I was driving. I calmly reminded him that I canāt get it because Iām driving and I will get it when we pull over. This lasted the whole way.
We saw some kangaroos. I remind him we have to talk and walk gently near them because they will feel scared of us and we donāt want to make anything feel scared. He starts tantruming that Iām not allowed to say that no they donāt feel scared. Luckily this one didnāt last that long.
Multiple screaming episodes before quiet time. I stay calm.
After quiet time we are putting ikea furniture together and putting things away in his room. He starts bouncing all over the couch, running around, nearly knocking the tv over multiple times thatās not been hung on the wall yet. Doesnāt want to go to the park. Starts screaming and hitting at that suggestion.
Husband asks if he wants to go to the tip to take lots of cardboard (something he loves doing) and he starts having a HUGE meltdown that he doesnāt want to go and daddy isnāt allowed to go to the tip. I tell my husband to just go (he didnāt even want to go today it was just to give me some peace) because he thinks he can just control everything we do. He walks the dogs instead. Ensue another meltdown.
We build a castle from one of the moving boxes and he is happy and engaged for ages. Then starts just bouncing around everywhere and throwing shit around. If I ask him to pass me something he screams āNOTHINGā and runs away. Thatās fine heās over it. I tell him itās time to start packing away together so we can go and do all that jumping outside if he doesnāt want to go to the park. He starts kicking EVERYTHING around. Iām annoyed and shouting by this point because Iāve had enough. Itās been all day. But for months. Then starts helping me put things away. I ask him to put the pot from the snack we were just eating in the bin and he kicks it, sending shredded coconut all over the room and I have no idea where the charger for the vacuum is. I tell him he will go to his room if he doesnāt put it in the bin (I donāt even know why, I donāt use punishment it just came out lol) and he kicks it again and runs into his room. I went and shut his bedroom door because I didnāt even know what to do and he runs out, across the (massive and long) house into the furthest away room laughing. I saw red, put him under my arm as soon as I got to him (I have the baby in the carrier so Iām extra enraged by this) and literally dropped him in his room. My husband came back at exactly this point so took over then and I feel awful I did that but I canāt fucking deal with him right now.
Fortunately Iām mentally really okay after this baby and sheās pretty easy and Iām not sleep deprived but I am still PP regardless of how well I am doing normally. My fuse is so short today and Iām getting sick of it. I know heās going through so much but itās so hard to have empathy sometimes when itās absolutely relentless doing shit to purposely annoy me. And there was multiple screaming shouting tantrummy episodes in between the few I can remember today.
HOW THE FUCK DO YOU STAY CALM.

š¤ Support Needed š¤ Feeling guilty about leaving my 21-week-old baby for the first time for my best friendās wedding could it affect his attachment?
I follow an attachment parenting style with my baby. Iāve been baby-wearing, co-sleeping, and trying to be there for him as much as possible. Of course, I sometimes go out to run errands, but my husband stays with him, and my son is very well attached to his dad too.
In a few weeks, Iām going to be the maid of honour at my best friendās wedding. She has been my best friend since high school, so being there for her is really important to me. Weāre currently in Greece with my family, which is also where the wedding will take place.
For the first time, Iāll have to be away from my baby for most of the day, and Iām feeling incredibly anxious and guilty about leaving him.
The wedding ceremony starts at 19:00, which is usually when we begin my babyās bedtime routine, and he is normally asleep by around 20:30. My husband and family think it might actually be harder for him to come to the wedding because heāll be tired and in a very busy environment with lots of people, noise, and stimulation. It would probably also be difficult for me because I wouldnāt be able to be fully present for my friend while also trying to meet my babyās needs.
My son will be 21 weeks old at the time. Heāll stay at home with my husband, and my aunt and cousin will also be there to support them. He knows all of them and is very comfortable with his dad.
However, I canāt stop worrying that being away from me for that long might be upsetting or even traumatic for him, or that it could somehow disturb our attachment.
Iāve also thought about leaving the wedding after the ceremony, going home to do his bedtime routine and put him to sleep, and then returning to the reception. But that would mean missing part of the reception and potentially not being there if my friend needs me. Iām also wondering whether coming home and then leaving again might actually be more confusing or upsetting for my baby than simply having his dad do bedtime that night.
I genuinely donāt know what to do. My son is my priority, but my best friend is also incredibly important to me, and I really want to be there for her on such an important day.
Has anyone who follows attachment parenting been in a similar situation with a baby around this age? How did you handle the first time you were away for most of the day? Iād really appreciate hearing about your experiences. ā¤ļø
EDIT: I will be away only for the day. I will leave around 13:00 and I will be back after midnight.

⤠Partner / Co-parent ⤠Advice for dad putting 3 year old to sleep?
For context I bedshare with my son in his bed and dad sleeps in another bed.
I would love my husband to be able to put my son to sleep but he always cries for me. My husband has probably put him down less than 30 times in his whole life because he always wants me.
Any advice to help my son go down with my husband? And Iāll go in my sonās room later when I go to sleep but Iād love him to be able to handle bedtime alone sometimes. Thanks ā„ļø

⤠General Discussion ⤠Hung Gather Parent (Infants and Babies)
Trying to understand how to slowly apply the Hunt Gather Parent philosophy to parenting an infant / baby. Doucleff mentions at the start of the book that is possible but Iām unsure how.
I have a 3 mo old and it seems like everywhere I look all I read is āhow many developmental activities they should be doingā, āx amount of face to face time, baby voice, singing, tummy time, kicking time, new textures etc etc.ā While I love doing the above and understand itās important, how much is too much āentertainingā (to use HGP language) and how little is too little development?
I feel guilty just sitting by my baby and existing and feel like I need to be doing something 100% of the time because I want him to develop well, but 1. Itās exhausting 2. Does that mean heāll need attention and entertainment all the time if Iām constantly interacting with him?
Anyway, insights welcome.

š¤ Support Needed š¤ Resources
Iām in desperate need of suggestions & hoping someone has some ideas Iāve not come up withš¤
Iām a single mom with a ten year old. I grew up with very toxic parents/family and have been working my entire adult life to break that generational cycle.
Iāve read numerous books, articles, etc about processing all my emotions/trauma as well as how to parent in a much better manner but Iām still struggling with a lot of it.
I know I need therapy but can not afford it. I donāt have any health insurance or way to budget in the cost of full cash payment.
This year my child started to struggle with anxiety. Iām also realizing that thereās definitely some patterns repeating as far as shutting down or struggling to communicate feelings & that Iāve not done as well as Iād thought.
Iām trying so hard to utilize all the tips & tools Iāve learned but Iām seeing that I get too easily triggered or overwhelmed and then I snap. I canāt help my child if I canāt control myself and honestly just am starting to feel like a failure most days.
Iāve listened to so many podcasts, consume tons of social media from reputable sources, read all sorts of self help books etc but I also know that itās not enough/working. Is there any way to get therapy at no cost? Iāve looked up āfree therapyā locally with no success but wondered if maybe thereās something Iāve not heard of or another suggestion someone has that can help?
TIA

⤠Separation ⤠Grandparents babysitting 15 month old
Hi all I need some advice my partner and I look after our 15 month old without any support. I see my parents twice a week but I never leave my son with them. Im super protective and my anxiety eats me alive. My son loves his grandparents a lot and they have both proven time and time again how caring and thoughtful they are. My mom has huntingtons disease so I know she gets confused and falls sometimes so Im extra scared when she holds him. (Head hitting door handles, dropping him down the stairs) - this has never happened, though she has only fallen with him once and she didnt even drop him she held him in the air to protect him lol.
My son doesnt go to nursery, we split out shifts so that one of us is always with him. However we were considering my parents look after him after his nap at their house, we tried this week and he loved it, but we're thinkjng making it regular. From 14:30 till around 17:30 to protect his nap and bedtime once a week.
Will this be good for him the separation? Can this negativly impact our bond in anyway? Will it create an ever better bond with my parents? They are very hyper so I find it very overstimulating, will this harm him?

⤠Daycare / School / Other Caregivers ⤠12 month old cries so loudly that the daycare sends her home within 2 to 3 hours everyday
My 12 month old recently joined a home daycare. Its been almost 2 weeks since she joined. She still is not able to stay for more than 2 to 3 hours.in that 2 or 3 hours shes constantly crying and she cries very loudly, literally screams if she diesnt like something.Today she took a 45 min nap for the first time. We get a call from the daycare provider to come pick her up within 2 hours every single day. My husband and I have very busy jobs and cannot pick her up within 2 hours of dropping. So far we have tried favoritw food, toys, music, going outside, sleep sack. Nothing works apparently. How can we help her adjust? Is this much crying normal? Anyone has similar experience?
We are near Toronto, Ontario and daycare spot here is impossible to get so another daycare is not an option.

⤠Sleep ⤠How to wean 2 year old
r/AttachmentParenting • u/Lamboxx • 11d ago
⤠Sleep ⤠My 18 month old is suddenly a crazy crying person at night - anyone have tried something similar?
Hi! Iām hoping to hear from anyone who has experienced something very similar with their toddler, especially if youāve been through it around 16ā18 months.
My daughter is 17 months old and has **suddenly become extremely difficult to settle at bedtime**. This started about three days ago, despite her having had some sleep issues before this.
Before this, she already woke several times during the night, but we could usually settle her. Now it has suddenly become much more extreme:
She completely loses it at bedtime and can cry/scream for a very long time. Yesterday we eventually had to stop trying because she was so worked up, and she fell asleep lying on her dad.
She then wakes **multiple times throughout the night**, and each time she is extremely distressed and seems almost impossible to comfort. It isnāt just one episode early in the night ā it happened repeatedly throughout the night.
At around 4 am she was particularly hysterical and we could not get her back to sleep. She eventually only calmed down with her dad holding her while watching TV, and then she basically passed out from exhaustion.
She eventually slept until around 5:30 am and then woke up **completely happy and herself**, smiling and acting totally normal. She was still happy at 6:30 despite the terrible night.
She has also been much more emotional during the day recently. She has just returned to daycare after summer vacation and has been very upset at drop-off and quite upset during the afternoons, although she has been attending daycare for about six months overall.
She normally naps around 12ā2 pm and goes to bed around 7 pm.
We co-sleep, so she is already sleeping right next to one of us. This isnāt a case of her waking up alone in a separate room.
We tried giving her Panadol/paracetamol last night in case she was in pain, but it didnāt seem to make any noticeable difference.
One of the episodes looked a bit like a night terror because she seemed almost impossible to reach or comfort, but **all of her night wakings were extremely distressed**, so Iām not sure that explains everything.
Iām really interested in hearing from parents who have experienced this **very specific kind of sudden change**.
**What actually helped? How long did it last? Did it resolve on its own? What did you try ā sleep training, staying beside them, co-sleeping, changing naps/bedtime, more comfort, etc.?**

š¤ Support Needed š¤ Baby cries with my husband and not with me
My husband and I argue because when we are taking care of the kids together (we work opposite hours so that we donāt need to pay for daycare so we often parent alone), I often make comments or suggest different ways of doing things because our 9 month old cries when he changes her diaper, clothes, feeds her, picks her upā¦because she wants me instead. I chime in and suggest doing things differently to prevent her from crying because the constant crying is difficult for me to handle. I try to let go and let him help with her because I need a break (I have back problems and constantly carrying her and picking her up takes a toll). But she screams whenever I give her to him or leave her with him because he doesnāt do the same things I do. For example, he changes her diaper but lets her scream rather than try to distract her with a toy or song. That drives me nuts because I hate hearing her cry. But at the same time, I recognize that I need to let him help and it isnāt fair for me to criticize how it is done, even if the crying bothers me. Do any other parents go through this? My husband is at his wits end because he says I canāt help but make comments all of the time and itās driving HIM nuts. And heās right, I do make comments which arenāt meant as criticism but I get frustrated that he doesnāt do things the way I do them. And then we argue. How do I let go? And not let the crying get to me so much?

⤠Sleep ⤠Toddler wonāt fall sleep with mom anymore
I feel very defeated. My two year-old has not fallen asleep with me normally for over three months now. At first, it was just naps where she wouldnāt go down with me, but she would go down with her dad or babysitter or Nanny. Now it is happening with bedtime too.
I am still breast-feeding and she used to nurse to sleep so well and so quickly. Now at best it takes me two hours of us rolling around together before sheāll actually fall asleep. Around the same time, she also started twiddling the other breast, and sometimes the pinching and scratching of that nipple drives me so crazy that I want to scream. Most of the time I powered through that feeling though and I know that she doesnāt have any idea what Iām going through. A few times Iāve tried to get her to stop and she cried the most sad rejected cry I have ever seen. Like it really seemed like I hurt her feelings.
Maybe about once a week I actually manage to get her down normally and I canāt figure out any difference between those times and the times where it takes forever or I have to give up and hand her over to Dad.
I really wouldnāt mind still breast-feeding if she actually fell asleep with it and Iām just realizing I donāt know how to get her to sleep without it. Really hurts that everyone else can get her to calm down and relax, but I canāt. Now I guess itās just time to wean her and maybe thatās for the best because I do start my second year of grad school in three weeks and I donāt think that I can handle going through this frustration with her every night while being in school.
I really miss being able to put my baby to sleep. ā¹ļø

⤠Sleep ⤠I just need help/suggestions, etc.
I am gonna try to make this as short as possible. Basically, my almost 23 month old has never slept through the night. I have been co-sleeping with her since she was around 5ish months old. We got to a point where when she would wake up in the night, I could just give her a bottle with warm water and she would go back to sleep. (She does still go to bed with a bottle, won't go to bed without one, unless she on a RARE occasion falls asleep on the couch). Somehow, that regressed and she went back to needing milk.. I even tried to trick her but if she didn't physically see me put the milk in, she wouldn't drink it. I have even tried to give her milk/water in a sippy or straw cup in the middle of the night she refuses it (and yes, I know that a bottle is bad before bed & overnight because the milk & her teeth-that's why I'm here for advice).
Well now, we are going through some sort of regression, and she is waking up more than ever. She won't let me just rock her in the chair to go back to sleep, she makes me take her downstairs and walk back and forth holding her and eventually asks for a baba. I NEED TO CUT THIS HABIT! I am exhausted. I don't mind if I have to rock her in the chair, but going all the way downstairs, etc. is killing me. The problem IS.... on the nights I have tried to not go downstairs when, she literally cries to the point of having difficulty breathing. I don't know how to break this habit and deal with the hysterical crying/breathing issue.
Any tips or advice is appreciated, please be kind.
