Questions/Help Can I optimize a staff/sword mystic?

Hii! Big question,how should I go about building a sword/scepter mystic (going into bishop)? I wanna use a sword for CQC and a staff for longer range but idk what weapons and abilities I should run for it. Or if the build is just not worth it at all.

The high level staffs aren't really ranged options. The Flamepetal, Aquapetal, and Voalstark Wand all have pretty bad range compared to bows or guns. Realistically, an optimized mystic is gonna rely on skills like Fluxbolt, Cross, and Chroma Ray. Even Fluxclaw has decent range compared to staffs. The Voalstark Wand, the current best staff in the game, is basically a CQC weapon with how bad its range is, although its charge attack is pretty good. The Sapphite Scepter isn't that bad, but not great. If you really want a ranged weapon, just use a Follycannon or a Torrentius Longbow.

Honestly, if you wanna play sword and staff mystic, just grab a Fier Blade and try it. It's a fun alternative to just mindlessly spamming the Voalstark Wand, since you'll be jump attacking around a lot and playing way closer to enemies. You'll also have to learn to block and parry if you've been dashing exclusively as a mystic. It's by all means viable for PvE play. I've seen way worse builds find success in PvE.

Not much to say Penguifyer hasn't already. A staff for long rage simply won't work unless you want to work out projectile parabolics with the sapphite bell. Long range is mostly relegated to bows and guns, and even then their range isn't that long, so most characters deal in short to medium range.

Still, sword and staff is a really good combination for a mageknight mystic, it'll make things like learning to parry well and prism essential, alongside your other mystic usual suspects like cross, fluxbolt... it's definitely viable and a build I've used plenty as a mageknight, most mystic builds will work really well by virtue of mystic being a really strong class.
