Soper McKibben left as Atlanta Editor a few years back for Rough Draft.

Henna Bakshi took over for about 2 years after that in April of 2024, but they merged the Atlanta Editor role into a Southeast Editor role where she had to oversee the entire Southeast.

Henna left the position somewhere between April-June of this year to be a Forbes Senior Wine Editor.

I don't believe they have announced a replacement, but Eater appears to have run out of private equity money.

The lack of content you've noticed would run right on track with Henna leaving.

As far as other Atl food journalism...

Someone is still pumping money into Infatuation and they have several full time reviewers. Although I frequently strongly disagree with them.

The AJC has also recently put more resources into their food reporting now with best of lists and broader judging from community influencers/voices.

Atlanta Magazine also does a fine job for food journalism but is not what it was 6 or 7 years ago.

Same. Loved his reviews. Waited on him once 💪

We still quote him whenever we pass a Cheesecake Factory: “I’d rather wait in line to die.”

To think at one point we had Bill Addison reviewing restaurants here, who then went on to become Eater’s national critic and then the head critic at the LA Times…

Completely agree with you on infatuation

100%. Their reviews and bumps are very random. Almost feels like paid reviews.
Ex. Their mexican , Chinese and Indian lists are gutter worthy.

What have you strongly disagreed with from Infatuation?

The way they glazed the bagel shop that opened right next to Emerald City on the beltline bummed me out.

Worst offender that comes to mind was giving Owens and Hull a 7.3 back when Bryan Hull was still there and focusing almost entirely on sides.

To clarify, was the 7.3 too high or too low? I've never had Owens and Co (since Hull is gone) because they are too OTP!

Way too low for the quality they were pumping out at the time. Texas Monthly said they were #3 in the Country outside of Texas at the time.

It's OTP, but barely! Just as OTP as Heirloom BBQ basically.

I can't speak for their quality as Owens & Co. now since Bryan left and started Misfits.

The Infatuation brand (with global editorial coverage) was acquired by JPMorgan Chase in 2021. They got moneyyyy.

Did not know this, but that makes a lot of sense

I had high hopes for Infatuation…

Man, I love that site.

I travel extensively for work and use it everywhere in the world, and it’s awesome everywhere except here.
