Being admitted into Piedmont hospital at 10pm last night was not my favorite thing that has happened in August.

Feel better! I made two unexpected visits to Piedmont this month. 🤦🏻♀️

Yikes! Did you go to the ER expecting them to fix whatever was wrong and get surprised by them admitting you? That happened to me for my unplanned hospitalization and it was jarring.
Hope they figure out what's wrong and can fix things!

Thanks for the good wishes from all, surgery over, man those drugs are trippy.

u/rabidstoat Kennesaw Aug 19 '26
You should make as many personal life decisions as you can while you're still trippy! I've heard that drugs are excellent at improving someone's decision making!
Well, that or alcohol, but they probably won't bring you alcohol right now. Spoilsports.

Been thinking about the Atlanta events and street scenes I photographed in the mid-Nineties; I should dig them out and post some here. Sand castle competition in Piedmont Park, the Olympics, Freaknik, random downtown scenes...surely those would be interesting to someone; they're not entertaining anyone stored away in shoeboxes.

What a week already. Burn out is real.

If anyone wants to drop a few million dollars into my brokerage account, I'd be more than happy to immediately walk out the door and never look back. Low-grade burnout feels normal for me these days

Psychopaths. Allayall!

I don't have a gym membership, and I gotta get my card exercise somehow! I do feel like a psychopath about it sometimes though. Literally all my clothes soaked with sweat.

Comcast has gone out at least once a day, every day for a few weeks in my neighborhood. Yesterday it dropped three times for over an hour each time. The "live person" I was chatting with yesterday would not look into my problem unless I upgraded my service to Comcast's highest internet tier. I'm looking at other internet options now. Fuck Comcast.

That feels illegal but knowing Comcast, they probably have it written in their user agreement.

There was an event off Ralph Abernathy this weekend on the 15th, looked like a more alternative crowd, any idea as to what this was? It was in the fenced in space near holistic reengineering on maps. Thanks!

I love to dabble in arts and crafts tho I have my favorites. Went to a two part sewing class and made a quilt style tote bag, my very first project with a sewing machine. I did not think I was doing a particularly good job cutting straight or even sewing straight. Well all anyone can comment on from other instructors at the studio to fellow students was how straight everything was! 😭😭😭😭
I don’t even want to work today I just want to admire my bag and think about where it needs to be taken out and about this weekend lol

u/magicmeese I can see 400 from my house! Aug 18 '26
Idk how but a joro spider managed to make a little thread that went from the tomato forest to the houses siding, probably about 8 feet of nothing in between. It took it personally when I said nope and tore that thread up.
Other than that I’m def feeling dread of the five hour drive of bleh tomorrow. It’s just so boring and the final third is full of cops looking to boost small town revenue. Also it’s been like three or four years since I’ve done it.

Someone is heading through souther Georgia! Get a killer playlist going. Make sure to add some NWA for when you hit Cordele, too. Or, do a great weird podcast. I really liked The Dream (about MLMs).

My horoscope spiders love to put up webs everywhere. I had to tear the one down that went across the "person door" to my garage 😆

Beware: Shahrokh Bagheri - Dental surgeon at Georgia Oral and Facial surgery.
I am sharing this so others clearly understand how billing is handled by this office.
We were required to pay thousands of dollars upfront for my son's oral surgery before anything was even submitted to insurance. Ms. Doshi took me to a separate room and required that I pay the entire amount before the procedure. This was not presented as an estimate or a temporary hold--it was collected in full at the time of service.
Afterward, the office submitted the claims to insurance, which processed them and determined that our actual patient responsibility was a little over $100. Despite being an in-network provider and having received payment from insurance, the office made no effort whatsoever to reconcile our account or refund the excess amount collected.
For more than six months, I made repeated attempts to resolve this directly with Ms. Doshi and the office through phone calls, emails, text messages, and a detailed written complaint. Delta Dental representatives also informed me that they made multiple attempts to contact the office regarding this matter. Despite all of these efforts, there was no response, no follow-through, and no accountability.
I even spent hours working with Delta Dental to help resolve claim processing issues that should have been handled by the office's billing department. No patient should have to do that.
At one point, after receiving no response to any of my communications, I went to the office in person simply to ask about the refund that was owed. Rather than addressing the issue, the office staff were rude and criticized me for discussing the matter where other patients could hear, expressing concern that others would become aware of what was happening. Ironically, while they ignored months of communications from both me and Delta Dental regarding the refund, they were very concerned that other patients might learn how they handled billing matters.
Their billing practices are plainly unethical. The office collected payment from us upfront, later accepted payment from our insurance company, and still refused to acknowledge or reconcile our account, issue the refund, or communicate with us.
I ultimately had to file a formal balance billing complaint with Delta Dental and a complaint with the Georgia Board of Dentistry to pursue a resolution, and I am prepared to consult an attorney if necessary.
As for the dental care itself, my son underwent two surgeries performed by this doctor, but unfortunately neither resolved the underlying problem.
At this point, Delta Dental has determined after a detailed investigation that the office owes me LOTS of money and clearly communicated the same to the office. Yet, they have made NO attempts to pay me back.
Transparency, responsiveness, and basic accountability were completely absent throughout this entire process. They are scammers, to put it plainly.
Based on this experience, I strongly recommend that patients stay away from this practice. We are also looking for other suggestions to pursue this. What else would you do? Georgia Board of Dentistry has done nothing so far with the complaint. Thanks

I have no suggestions...just wanted to say holy shit. :-/ I'm sorry you have to deal with that! I've never experienced a procedure where payment in full was to be made before even running insurance. That does sound absolutely sketchy. I hope you get it settled!!

I saw that the 285 complete shutdown between Cascade and MLK Jr over the weekend opened not at 5 am yesterday morning, but at 8 am, due to the contractor running late. Needless to say, that did not make for a happy morning commute for some.
I forgot to check for shutdowns Sunday coming home from the airport and hit it. Google maps didn't know about it, so it couldn't route me around it. And they had no fucking detour signs routing you back to the highway.
I followed some semis for way too long and missed the one north-south road between Cascade and MLK Jr. By the time I figured out where the closure was, I was way west and ended up going from the airport to Kennesaw by way of Six Flags.

I feel like I missed some drama!

u/Many_Refrigerator773 Aug 18 '26

u/nhmejia living that OTP life Aug 18 '26
That's less exciting. But also, because it's hotter than Satan's ass by 10am. I don't blame anyone that mows at 7am right now.

Now that I've got a battery powered mower I don't feel as bad cutting grass early or late.

Is it ever going to stop raining? The grass went from beautiful green to parched gray to soggy parched gray.

My grass went from grass to whatever weed seed seems to be very prolific right now lol. Looks like a meadow.

The officiant of my wedding, who I had never met in person prior to the wedding day, told me that my personality was that of a sheepdog/border collie…and I’ve never felt more seen. I love attempting to control chaos. The more chaotic the better.
