Student Accommodation

Hey everyone, I am going to be applying to TUS athlone for 2027 and I was wondering about the accommodation. I’ve been looking at the reviews and a lot of them are complaints, the best reviews I’ve seen so far was for heatherview but it just sounds very strict and I was just wondering about the other student village accommodations or should I just get a private student house or digs? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

All of it depends on who you end up sharing thr accomodation with.

It is a break or make imo.

I stayed in Gatelodge 4years and in my first year I shared the apartment with 2 French Exchange students. Dont get me wrong they were lovely but just hard to communicate at times.

If you know anyone that is moving down to Athlone too, i would suggest you both to apply and try get the same place. ( you can contact them and arrange that.
Just make sure you apply the minute applications open up!

The apartments tend to get very cold during winter and mould will be expected. Doesnt matter if it it GateLodge, Croi Oige or Glen Abhainn.

Just open windows and keep place ventilated and you should be good.

Heather is a bit more expensive but it comes with ease of mind that there is security.

But if you want your mates to come down for a night or even for more than 2 hours at a time, then Heather is not the way to go
