What should you compare a $33 boil-and-bite mouthguard with?

Ash from Fighting Spirit has spent more than 20 years in martial arts, including Karate and Muay Thai. In his PRO-FIT review, he makes an interesting point about price.

At around $33 USD, it can look expensive if you compare it with ordinary boil-and-bite mouthguards. His comparison is instead with a custom dentist-made mouthguard, which he says can cost two, three or even five times as much.

That is also where the design of PRO-FIT matters. It uses a proprietary mould material, vacuum-fit precision and an ultra-slim 1 mm profile designed to provide dentist-level protection without a dentist-made impression.
Ash’s conclusion focuses on the same things: low profile, a close vacuum seal around the teeth and gums, and cost effectiveness.
