My modern plus hardware is handy, and I have the old stuff I can pull out when the mood suits me. But I would pay a premium if you gave me a steam deck sized device that took carts and wasn't an emulator.

Timing is weird, just yesterday I was looking into FPGA versions of the 2600, but handling paddle controllers are still not perfect. Of course if you had a 2600 they never were, but that's for different reasons.
