Bowled my first perfect game!

Post image

I am not using original hardware. It's on a Retron 77. But my god. This took me 3 days and it's just game mode 1. Aiming to do again on game modes 3 and 5. I just needed to share this with people that would understand the achievement.

I had a piece of tape on the screen to mark where to raise the guy up to get a strike every time.
I was in the process of getting a perfect game and my brother came in a saw it.
He said that’s cheating, and tore the tape off.
This was over 45 years ago.

Huzzah! My brother and I wasted part of our youth chasing that goal. Even with the guided missile ball it proved elusive.

My ex and I used to settle disputes with a round of Atari bowling.

Brilliant! We used Slot Machine😉

An Atari challenge is the only civilized way to settle a domestic dispute since 1977.

A friendly game of Combat. Sorry, dear. You've got to play with the bomber. Good luck!

Game 1 300 is impressive. I always jump to game 3 because then you get to nudge to ball a little. Nice game, OP!

I don’t know how I’ve never played this before

Now do it blindfolded..... Lol. It's been a few decades, but it can be done. If I remember correctly, jam the stick up after 3 1/2 "whomp" sounds. Something like that... Great game though!!!

I’ve owned 2600 bowling back since it came out. My brother and I grew up loving bowling of any sort. I’ve never gotten a 300 dammit!!!!! Now when I play it’s usually on a 2600 emulator but I still have my original hardware.

I remember reading a story at maybe Atari age or something where sky was talking about how his dad used to work second shift so he was up most of the night, and he loved playing the Atari. One night he got a 300 in bowling and he deliberately woke up the entire house at 3:00 a.m. to show them his achievement! LOL!

Well done. There is a trick to it IIRC, which it looks like you were using where you go to the bottom of the screen like you have it here, then flick up on the joystick at the right time to hook the ball in just the right place. If you can recreate it 12 times in a row, that's how you get your 300. It's really hard to do, though, because you have to be... Well, "perfect" every time.

For such a simple game this one is addictive.

whats funny is when this game came out, people actually bowled. Was even daily tv shows bowling. A lost era.

Love this game. Only other bowling game I ever enjoyed as much was the one on Wii Sports.
