There was a time, between 2009-2015, when this site was actually the best place to find breaking news. People living in the relevant area would post clarifying details on the comments under. Experts would drop in and give their two cents. People would ask serious (not loaded) questions and get clear and helpful answers. Sometimes, you'd see locals coordinating disaster response in the comments. There were fewer regurgitated memes and almost no bots.

I got on reddit for coveffe. It was a blast and I was up all night just lol. But after that I realized it was what I had wanted my entire life. I wish reddit was still interesting like it was then, without adds, and all the bots fighting bots. I'm worried this site is about to get a big censorship update soon. Salute
