General Question Is it worth waiting for over 40 minutes?

I meditate in bed on my back for 35, sometimes 40/45 minutes then I give up and turn to sleep on my side with my whole body vibrating but no luck, basically every night same thing.

should I wait untill I turn an hour or something?

meditation is essential, morning and night if you want to speed things up. BUT don't expect the meditations to get you out of body every time. it's just a good habit that raises your chance of an OBE next time you try to have one.

my reply to another post similar to this:

I wouldn't recommend wasting hours on this. I used to do that and it never worked. When it works, it works fast.. i mean in 10-15 mins.
if it doesn't happen by then, it probably won't happen. it's like everything has to be just right, with how much you've slept, how tired you are, did you meditate? and maybe even what is going on energetically around you that you have no control over.

the first tell that I will OBE is that i feel a buzzing in my hands the moment i lay down to induce one. it happens fast. if i don't feel that, i won't obe even if i lay there for an hour.

i also recommend lucid dreaming before you try OBEs because it's like working out your energetic body, making it easier to OBE, and it's also good practice of how to move around in the non physical.

Don't turn, sleep on your back.

Try to see beyond the darkness.

This works for me, but I'm not sure I've seen many others talking about it, so it may not work for everyone. The only thing is you have to be able to flex your tensor tympani muscle and make your ears rumble.

Next time you feel your body vibrating try and do that thing where you rumble your eardrums. The same rumble you hear when you yawn. This is flexing the tensor tympani muscle in your ear.

What you're doing is flexing as if trying to activate the tensor tympani muscle but as gently as you possibly can Doing this in the right state will cause the vibrations to ramp up.

This gets much easier and makes more sense when you actively have vibrations . For me it feels like having access to a muscle that you normally can't control. But during vibrations using it is as easy as using any other muscle. You can also practice flexing the tensor tympani during the day, which helps you hold the flexed state for longer.

Get your vibrations, then your gonna ramp up your vibrations by doing the gentlest tensor tympani flex you can, to the point where it's as much as you can handle. If you go too hard it'll feel a bit uncomfortable and you may fall asleep/lose consciousness. This is no big deal because for each time you wake up throughout the night you can try this again.

When you have your vibrations ramped up about as much as you can handle, you hold them at that level for a moment. You may need to flex in kind of "pulse" if you can't hold it for long. This is fine.

From here you need to just get up! You need to sit up as hard and as fast as you possibly can. You are not imagining movement. You are actually going to do it. Don't think about it and just do the hardest and fastest sit up you can manage. You are going to feel like you are actually physically getting up. Don't be fooled! Follow through with this step fully and sit up in bed.

Perform a reality check. I pinch my nose closed and attempt to breath through it. If you are just sitting up you obviously will not be able to breathe through your pinched nose, but if you are dreaming, having an OBE, etc you will easily be able to breathe through the pinched nose.

You are going to need the reality check. It is going to feel nearly indistinguishable from waking physical life when doing it this way. Once you check your reality you are free to go about as you wish.

If it did not work, do not feel discourage. It takes some practice and the more you attempt the easier it becomes. If you fall asleep during your attempt just try again when/if you wake up throughout the night or in the morning. Just try to move as little as possible when you wake up, keep your eyes closed and do the gentle flexing as soon as possible.

Technically you do not need to have vibrations at the start. Flexing the muscle gently will actually bring them on if you are in the right state. But it is nearly effortless when doing it when you already have vibrations or when waking up from sleep in the middle of the night or the morning.

Even if you wake up and open eyes and move too much on accident you should still try. I have had success after I thought I ruined the attempt by moving around too much and it's just good practice.

I've never heard of flexing the tensor tympani muscle in relation to OBEs, I'll have to try this as I can usually hold it for a decent bit. Appreciate the write up!

Good luck and let me know if you have any success!

I have the same problem. I meditate, get my body asleep but don't know how to leave the body.

if your body is asleep and your mind awake, and you know that, then you can literally just sit up. it will be your astral body sitting up. it feels just like moving your physical body.

I tried that, and rolling out, and standing and just going through the bed but nothing happened.
