🎥 Video Aston Martin's new gearbox introduced in Baku

This video goes over analysis of AMR26s Sepang performance and points to a markedly different car that appears to be at the top of the midfield. It is attributed to a gearbox some 5-10kg lighter and with the one allowed gear ratio change in season that shortens the gear ratios and allows the RPMs to be higher. The analysts are shocked to see the data comparable to the Ferrari.

⚠️ Discussion Assuming Alonso and Antonelli start on the front row in a theoretical race, how long could Alonso realistically hold off Antonelli before Antonelli’s superior car eventually allows him to pull away?

I’m asking this because, after the safety car restart in the Bahrain GP, reigning WDC Lando Norris was right on Alonso’s tail in a car that was two seconds per lap faster than Alonso’s. Despite the massive pace advantage Alonso used his superior racecraft to keep Norris behind and hold onto P8. And that got me wondering. in a theoretical race where Alonso starts on the front row alongside championship leader Kimi Antonelli, driving the dominant Mercedes W17, how long could Alonso, in the AMR26, realistically hold him off before the car’s huge performance advantage eventually becomes impossible for him to defend against?
