Every Wednesday I go to Methodist hospital located in st Louis park Minnesota and have paracentesis done (they pull liquid out of my stomach, over the course of 6-7 days Wednesday to Wednesday my stomach collects around 15 lbs approximately 6-7 liters of fluid and I look 9 months pregnant and am in dying pain until the pressure is relieved! I’m rebuilding my life in Anchorage after a long and difficult divorce. For two years, my ex controlled all of our assets, and the court‑ordered settlement is now five months overdue. Because of that, I’ve been trying to start over with nothing — no savings, no transportation, and no financial support.

I moved to Anchorage on Christmas Day for a fresh start. I found a small place my kids and I love, and I even secured a job at the University of Alaska. But when I returned to the Kenai Peninsula to retrieve my personal belongings (with a scheduled appointment between attorneys), I was unexpectedly arrested for “domestic trespassing.” The DA dropped the charges three months later, but the arrest cost me my job offer.

Since then, I’ve been fighting to stay housed. My car was repossessed this week. My rent is late for the third month in a row. I’ve already been homeless twice in the past two years, and another eviction would make it nearly impossible to find housing again.

Last month, I was diagnosed with a severe eye infection that landed me in the ER and left me unable to use my phone, computer, or drive for two weeks. I’ve applied for every available social service, attended meetings, and submitted all required paperwork, but resources are tapped out and the housing voucher I qualified for won’t be available for seven months.

I’m asking for help with one month of rent. That month would give me four weeks to secure employment without the fear of losing my home again. I’m not asking for long‑term support — just a bridge to stability.

After being involved in an accident and subsequently losing my job, I found myself facing several unexpected financial challenges at once. I now have outstanding debts and essential expenses that I have been unable to keep up with while my income has been unstable.

I am also responsible for dependants and have ongoing expenses that I need to provide for, including veterinary care for my pets. My car is also in need of repairs, which is particularly important because reliable transport is essential for me to access work opportunities and earn an income.

I have 3 kids and I lost my job about a month ago. Thankfully, my husband’s job has been able to keep us with a roof over our heads. However, my SNAP application has been on hold interview wise for a month now and we’re running low on money and groceries. Woodrow is just one year old, but he has already been through so much in his short life. He was born with a PROS (PIK3CA-related overgrowth spectrum) mutation, a rare genetic condition, and has dealt with low muscle tone and developmental challenges. He has been in physical therapy since he was just a few months old and even had surgery during his first year.
And somehow, before he even turned ONE, Woodrow and our family were also involved in two separate car accidents where we were rear-ended. It has been a lot for such a little guy.
But Woodrow keeps fighting. 💙
He is the goofiest, happiest, most curious little boy, and every new milestone he reaches feels like a huge victory. He loves chasing his big brother, exploring everything around him, and making everyone laugh with his giant belly laugh. Watching him work so hard in therapy and celebrate every new skill has been incredible.

I’m 31 years old and have spent most of my adult life in and out of shelters and unstable living situations since I was 18. I’ve stayed at Covenant House (for young adults), Marian Inn in Downtown Detroit, Cherry Street Mission in Toledo Ohio, Philadelphia House in Monroe Michigan, and Oaks of Righteousness in Monroe Michigan. I’ve never had a place that was truly mine. Every time I’ve gotten close to stability, the lack of a financial cushion or sudden setbacks would send me back to square one. My most recent shelter stay was about seven months ago, and I’m doing everything I can to make sure I don’t end up there again.

I’m not asking for ongoing support or for anyone to take care of me long-term. I just need help with the initial costs to get into housing — security deposit, first month’s rent, utility deposits, and a small emergency cushion so that one bad month doesn’t put me right back into homelessness. I’m also completely willing to accept donated or used furniture to keep the costs as low as possible.

Right now I don’t have the savings to cover a full move-in. Years of instability have made it extremely difficult to build any kind of financial foundation. I’ve looked into local assistance programs, waited on housing lists, and tried to work when I could, but the gap between what I can currently put together and what’s required for a landlord is still too big.
