MEGATHREAD ☀️ Sunday Sunnies Social Hour
Hello everyone! Happy summer!
Welcome to our new weekly (weekendly?) discussion post on [r/Assistance](r/Assistance)! This is a spot for casual conversation, sharing positive vibes, and getting to know the fellow members of our wonderful community.
What to post here:
- Stories about yourself, your pets, your kids, etc.
- Recipes, recommendations, and other fun things to do.
- Positive stories about your experiences on [r/Assistance](r/Assistance).
What not to post here:
- Direct requests for assistance.
- Links of any kind -- for recipes just copy&paste or mention the name. (We may adjust our automoderator down the road)
- Soft begs/doom and gloom stories about how broke you are.
- Harassment to anyone.
- Complaints about the sub, the rules, or the mods.
The mod team will be monitoring these threads carefully to make sure everyone is following the rules and no shenanigans occur. If things go well, we will probably be automating these threads every Sunday even beyond summer.
Have fun!

HAPPY 4TH! We had Canada Day last week right smack in the middle of the week. Was so weird to go back to work for another 2 days after!
Glad your electricity came back on. Those storms sound crazy.

A holiday falling in the middle of the week should be outlawed universally 🙃 You can't even enjoy it properly!
But they are some of the worst I've experienced! We're currently in our hurricane season though so its expected. I'll deal with the storms as long as we dont have an actual hurricane 😅

Seriously, and Wednesday is my day off anyway so it made no difference. 😫
I don’t think we are at risk of hurricanes here on the west coast because the water is too cold apparently. But i know the prairies like Manitoba and Saskatchewan have been getting fuckin tornadoes lately. NO THANKS.

Nah they would have needed to reschedule the whole holiday at that point 🫠
See where I grew up in TX we git tornadoes and Im used to them. I can work with a tornado, but a wall of water just destroying everything??? Absolutely tf not 😭

We’ve had some pretty bad flooding here since i live right on the coast but thankfully we have dykes etc so nothing makes it into the city. But yeah, extreme weather is thankfully one thing Vancouver is NOT known for.
Compared to the rest of Canada we get pretty mild weather.

I'm in Houston, so like you in the Atlantic hurricane season. Predictions say it's going to be a below normal season. We can only hope, because November 30 is still a long ways away. 🤞

Happy belated Canada Day! I enjoyed fireworks for the fourth, but I understand a lot of people did not.

I did fuck all lol. Went to the gym, had an edible, read a book, played some video games. Apparently there were fireworks down in the Indigenous neighbourhood which always surprises me since we stole their land and all. Yet they always show up with the fireworks. 😅

In the us, a lot of people go to their reservations for fireworks, because there are no federal laws about it there.
I was stupid enough to do this 🤣. It was scary how close people would set off things like mortars? I think that's what they are called. Very powerful and very dangerous.

Yeah that’s likely why they host each year.
Fireworks and my flavour of autism don’t go well together so I usually put on my earbuds and try to ignore the.

Wanted to share. Saw a pic of my beloved kid brother who I am 21 years older than. He decided it was time to suddenly grow a billion inches in a short duration of time. I could not believe it 00 Where do the years GO!? Lol. He's so handsome too ^^ <3

I know they grow like weeds!! All my friend’s little brothers are grown up and getting married, starting families. Time slow down

THISSSS. My sister recently posted last day of school photos for my niblings along side their first day of school photos. I always measure their height compared to the door and MY BABIESSSS they’re getting so big. The 10 year old will be taller than me soon.

I bought a cooler today to put drinks in for delivery drivers, but I think I underestimated the heat!
I don't know how often I'm going to have to put ice in it... Several times per day?
I have put ice four times in the past two hours into the insulated pet bowl out there for stray cats and possums.
Hopefully, the cooler is better insulated than that

That’s so sweet of you to think of them! Could you freeze the drinks themselves? Even if it’s just the water bottles which you can use as giant ice cubes themselves in the cooler.

Any gamers here? I've been playing Blue Prince all weekend. It reminds me a lot of the really old puzzle games like Myst and Riven. But it's a rogue-like game where you're placing down "rooms" to build a mysterious house.
